We need a list detailing the current whereabouts of all of the more interesting models such as the XPs and the GTRs. To start i have included a list of where i am led to believe the models are but i'm sure we'll soon be able to get an accurate list.

XP1 - in the ground at woking (R.I.P)
XP2 - do BMW own the former crash test car? in the BMW museum?
XP3 - a complete write-off? was it rebuilt?
XP4 - no idea
XP5 - at the factory, on display (must be worth millions)

01R - at the factory, under wraps?

please continue this list.

XP4 is in the hands of someone in Fremont, CA. It was originally sold to someone related to the late Bruce McLaren.

To my knowledge, XP2 was never completed and was crushed following the crash testing. There is a silver road car in the BMW Zentrum museum, but I have no idea which car that would be. They also have a short tail and a long tail GTR displayed there as well, each wearing the FINA/BMW Motorsport livery, but off the top of my head I don't know exactly which cars those are.

There is a thread in this forum with locations on other cars - search for "Location of McLarens in the US" or something like that.

The owner of #007 doesn't own Turner Motorsports - he's just associated with them. I'll let 'drewwtms' handle the rest of the details.

mini_magic - disregard what I said about 3 McLarens at Zentrum. Zentrum is the museum in SC near the BMW factory. I actually meant BMW's Mobile Tradition Museum which is located in Germany. I was in a rush when I typed that- sorry. The Mobile Tradition museum includes 3 floors of BMW racing history - if you're passionate about BMWs and are ever in Germany, you should make it a point to attend. Unfortunately, cameras are not allowed in the museum.

Occasionally, the PTG Racing F1 GTR '#17R' is displayed at the Zentrum Museum so you may get lucky and see that car when you go.

#007 is NOT owned by Turner Motorsport - never was. A friend/customer/serious car guy owns the car. He does drive a BMW 325i Touring Car with us. 007 is NOT in the TMS showroom anymore. It was here for winter storage but the owner picked it up a few weeks ago.

That may have been the car/owner from the other thread about a McLaren on Route 9 in Massachusetts. That is something that I can see him doing - he is a very cool guy.

#068's whereabouts is unknown to me at this time. I will post more information if it becomes available. And it is NOT owned by Turner Motorsport.

Now before all of you go lining up along Route 9 for rides, he is in Mosport, Canada this weekend and Lime Rock, CT the following weekend. If any of you are close to Conneticut you might enjoy the Lime Rock race weekend. Lots of cars (including McLaren), friendly atmosphere from fans and teams, and excellent racing. Saturday night is a big party and Sunday (no racing) there is a car show.

BMW North America owns the 017R McLaren GTR. PTG is the caretaker. They keep several significant BMW racecars in storage and for promotional events. Any BMW-sponsored event usually has a cool racecar or two in attendance and PTG's people are there as well.

The race is on Monday, May 26. There is racing througout the weekend. Except for Sunday which is an import car day. Look for lots of cool cars including a few New Minis. And maybe a McLaren?

007, 068, and an LM are owned by Frank Selldorf, a .commer in MA. Blue Sky and other companies. I understand the LM is here under S&D, how that is possible must make for an interesting story.
068 was approved a couple of months ago under S&D after it had been withdrawn first my the original owner, Alfredo Brenner, and then withdrawn by Frank.

For the record, I have seen other information to support Seldorff's ownership of the three cars as well. Drew from Turner was trying to find out what the status was on the LM for a long time for me.

What I would be most curious about is how #068 got through S&D since it wouldn't meet the EPA OBD-II standards for post 1996 cars ???

A friend of a friend owns an F1 GTR, although I cannot remember his name. If this is XP4, then that means it is in the UK with him. He has also ordered a Zonda C12s and has just had his shoes fitted. Thata the way to live. (p.s He has also invested in a £90 million pound yacht!!!)

Can you elaborate on the F1 GTR owned by the friend of a friend?? Do you happen to know the year, the chassis number, the livery/ies that it raced under? Also, what color is it currently and can you get us some pictures?

Also, XP4 (the 4th road car prototype) now lives in the USA in Northern California - this is fact - so your comment about it being in the UK is a bit confusing.

Well, if it's a GTR then it can't also be an XP.

This friend of a friend isn't Nick Mason - the Pink Floyd drummer - is it? He owns the first '96-spec GTR, #10R and lives in England.

Anyway - find out what color it is first - that will be the best clue to help me identify it.

its either an xp or a gtr, not the same unless chasiss number 001r has found its way out of the factory or the guy as someone said is nick mason. if you have a color it helps, btw nick masons is red

I remember when Hugh Grant was on Jay Leno he was talking about not owning a masculine sports car. He said he's friends were bugging him so he went out and bought the most expensive sports car ever built. I'm guessing since he's british he's referring to the F1. Did anyone else see the show? Can anyone verify this with a serial?

Well here's my contribution:

#003 is in hands of a japanese collector. Car is black, black leather interior. Dashboard is sort of mauve color.

I saw pics of the car in a japanese minichamps book. That's also the book where i got the picture of the Tag Heuer watch that customers received on buying the f1.

Then surprise surprise but there is also a brandnew F1 in belgium. Owner bought it new and did not drove it 1km. since then. A friend of mine saw the car in real. I never believed him, but now i know it is the truth

There is a car that has been photographed in Japan that looks like #003. I wonder, did the Minichamps book specifically identify the chassis number, and if so, did it include any pictures you might be able to share?

Also a photo of that watch would be greatly appreciated. You can stick it in this thread here (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=316889) if you don't mind sharing.

There is even a picture of the chassisnumber in the book. I will scan it later today, i already posted a picture in that thread. Take a look.

You are correct on the blue one. I saw it in real. In his garage. But he did not want to tell the chassisnumber of the car. Also doors were closed. Also his real name is a big mistery.
