manifold Change

Heyas

Me and my mate have got hold of a crashed 89 Civic and it has twin carbs, how hard is it to change the manifolds onto his 91 Civic (not injected). Is it a good idea, i ive heard twin carbs can be bastards to keep in sync

I don't think that you would get much of a performance gain unless you did other work to take advantage of extra fuelling e.g. compression, exhaust, cams.

IMO by the time you do that, you would be better off with an engine swap, or a car swap!

i was thinkin of doing to the same thing to my 1.3 carb coz i wanna have twin carbs for now, and i know of a set in a junkyard, thing is u have to change the inlet, cables coz of the twin carbs, i think it is too much work myself but if there is a how to i might do it ;)

Synchronizing carbs it touchy work, and I don't know many guys, other than motorcycle dudes, who can do it properly.
Fuel injection is so much more reliable, and gets better mileage, too.
(As long as you have the sensors, the computer, yadda, yadda)

PS-But if I had a carbed civic and had a chance to put the dual side-drafts on, I'd do it! I'd just have my dad help me sync 'em, like he did on our MG.

Im not sure if its agood idea or not with the conflicting stories lol :P.

Does it matter that the Car with the twin cars in 1500 and the car its going onto is 1300???

If he does do he would get someone to do the syncronsing for him.

I know of people that have do it before but it was a 1.5 to a 1.5 & they said it was fairly simple.

Another option is the Honda City Turbos, apprently they fit straight onto the Civic motor???? ive read a bit about this but never heard of any one i know that has done it.

carbs ... man on my old MG the shop would work on the carbs and it would come back worse than before ... good thing one of my dads friends is really into classics.

were there a lot of MG's over in the states in the 60's and 70's ???
