They say that Hobby Search is a little cheaper, but their postage is a little more expensive IMO. Also I find that their service is not as thorough as HLJ.

you can try Hobbyworld, my order just arrived, less than 7 days (they shipped it on last Tuesday, and arrived at my house yesterday)......what a fast.......I shipped using SAL

but there are 2 drawbacks:

1) the contact person does not write good english than hlj.com. The person is a japanese, and some kind, she may mix up the items name and quantity. It requires a lot of check=>email=>confirm=>reply......

2) they charge +500yen handling cost on top of the shipping+kit cost. And shipping 1 single kit in SAL is 1300yen......comparing to hlj which usually charges 800-1000yen, hobbyworld is pretty expensive, but ordering more makes lower shipping cost.

However, I prefer Hobbyworld than hlj.com, since you are contacting with a person, not just only the status checking page like hlj......hlj did screwed up my order last time (hlj seperated my order and shipped it twice)......I got double shipping cost on just 2 items. WTF.

Since Hobbyworld is Aoshima's subcompany, they have pretty good stocks of aoshima rare kits.

enjoy!

just like to let you know here is the comparison between hlj and hobbyworld:

hlj:
3 hasegawa kits + 5 sets of rims + 3 photoeched parts = 3000yen shipping cost

hobbyworld:
22 kits + 26 sets of rims and 1 tomica world(the size is around 4 box of rims) + 8 bags of aoshima vip muffler + modellers hoses&wire = 7600yen shipping + 500yen handling

pretty cheap shipping cost as you can see......i will go with hobyworld next time.

If you search hard and know what you're looking for when it comes to kits, you can save a ton buying off E-Bay

Even if hobbysearch is cheap, it's still the shipping that kills the cheap prices.

(well, you didn't state online shops only....)

We seldom pay more than the MSRP (HLJ's price) for kits here~

My local hobby shop does the following :

Price of Kit + Freight Cost x 3 + 5

Good deal right !? :( :( :(

I only buy tamiya paint from them now. The 10mL are $1.90 but i can't get then any cheaper online... unless you guys know a place

And then the small hobby shops wonder why they're going out of business?
