Problems after b16a swap

Well I finished my swap, b16a into a 88 civic dx, wire harness conversion done, all set to go, try and startup the motor and it cranks but I get no spark, ??? anyone run into this with there swap, I checked everything but no spark, bad distributor maybe? help please.

alot of the time the disributor is at fault on the b16a, try checking to make sure its working properly.

Dude, either you can't read or you don't know jack about cars. He said he isn't getting a spark. even if the timing was off it will still spark.

This is what he said and like everyone is trying to tell you if the timing's off it still sparks and will start. The idle will be jacked is all. Dang man!!! Do you know anything???

actually, if your timing is way off it may start, but it will not stay on. i've had that problem once.

IF it starts and won't stay on then it's getting saprk and yes it's your timing. How does that help this guy. :rolleyes:

he should of had someone who knows what they are doing to do the swap for him in the first place.

I can't believe you just said that. I have lost any hope for you. They way you learn is to do and everyone here will agree with me. You get a sense of pride when you do things yourself. Swap problems do come along but then you fix that shit yourself and get even more pride. As I said in the 92+ civic forum. I have to wonder if you have any of the mods you claim. Your mods sound like you copy and pasted my mods on there. Every mod you supposedly have you post pics off the net. Are you for real or what? Prove me and everyone else who thinks you're full of it wrong and post some pics.

regardless of if you put the engine on yourself or someone else did it for you. the engine is the same. boo-hoo. Building the engine yourself and bolt on the parts that you want to acheive that 1/4 mile time. That's pride. just so you know, you will eat these words you said,

i have taken pics already but the quality of the digital camera sucks. if i'm going to post pics, i'm going to post good ones so you can clearly see what i got. not some blury ass pic. but, "YOU WILL EAT THOSE WORDS YOU'VE SAID"

yes i do. and not everything i've said is wrong. was it really the distributor? do you know that for a fact. the only way to find out is if the originator of this thread posts what the problem really was.

check back a little later. i'll be oustide cleaning the motor and stuff. Plus, i have to change the oil anyways. i deleted the pic i took yesterday, but i'll take more today.

yeah im good enough in photoshop to touch up your blurry shots.

and when your down re-oiling the chain on your huffy, make sure to post the pics of the 10 speed shifter.

if i post pics. then so do you?

your mods include the picture of someone's engine bay, thats real hard to find on the web.

i can take a pic of any cars engine and slap it up here and say its mine.

i think you really need to take a pic of you next to "your car" with a teddy bear in it, so we know its you and not some pic u found on the net.


and if that is your engine, name some of the parts you put on it.

Thx for the negative reply and for your information the guy who did the swap is well know in the area for doing swaps, he has done 12 to date on 92-up civic and tegs ranging from b16's to H22's, this guy is my brother, including his car which is a 96 hatch w/ 1.8 b18 gsr motor & custom turbo install running 5 psi currently (if you don't believe me I'll be more than happy to provide pics, his car is part of massivemotorsports.com club). I'm not trying to show him off just proving the point this was done with someone with much experience. Unfortunately I seem to be the only EF civic with a b16a or at least the first in SW florida, most swaps are done on crx si's or 92 up hatch, at least so far in this area and this is his first ef civic swap. He unfortunately cannot work on my car this week since he doing some work on his ride for the nopi show in Brandenton, FL. this weekend so I was hoping to get some stuff done on my own by asking for help as many from these forums have provided, thx for the one's with positive feedback, I appreciate your help guys.

To give you guys the status I have changed the ignitor, ignition coil and still no spark. Please let me which are all the ground wires on the b16a, I know one for the battery which connects to the tranny and the other ground cable which connects to the valve cover. Is there any other I should watch for? I can't believe my distributor is bad after changing the ignitor and ignition coil and still no spark, I will order another distributor if all else fails, please let me know what this could be. I appreciate any info.

what about the starter? is that good?

yep, so far its cranking fine, just no spark. I've been told to recheck my wire harness ground to starter and make sure its grounded, guess I check that cause from what i know there are 2 grounds so far, the batter ground which is connected to the tranny bolt, and the valve cover ground.

double check all connections.

i believe there are a few more grounds from the alternator, and the intake manifold, but im not sure on that one.


SIRII, i still cant believe you man, just cuz you can write a bunch of shit down on a web-board doesnt prove to me that you have this stuff.

i can make a list that pro drivers would drool about and say i had it all, im still raising the BS flag on you man.
