im looking around for a new car and i was looking at
99-00 civic si
96-01 gsr
97-01 prelude

I will have about $6500 left to put into them and i just wanted to get your input

i definitely want to add a jackson racing or vortech supercharger on the one i end up getting

Although I love integras, I would go the 99-00 SI. Vortech's intercooled version gives you like 275 HP!
However, I would go to www.procharger.com and see their kits. They have better systems than Vortech. JR superchargers just plain suck.

well, id say GSR then SI, just cuz the nice gsr's started 5 years earlier so you can get one cheaper, but if you found a si for as cheap as gsr's (both leave you 6500,so i guess you did) then get the SI, they are so nice.

Hmmm.. Practical... And supercharger... In the same post? :)

Hehe... well if you want cargo space, the Integra wins (hatch, fold-down seats)... unless you put a two-subwoofer box in the back. Then you're screwed. If that's a consideration, I'd go with the Civic SI. It'll handle speakers and cargo nicely. The prelude is like a slightly-bigger S2000: it simply doesn't have cargo space.

Engineering-wise, design-wise, the B16A in the Civic SI is the ultimate current-generation Honda motor. It may put out the least torque in the bunch, but it can withstand significantly greater abuse and build-up than the H22A and even the B18C. I'm sure people will argue back and forth on this topic quite a bit, but I know that even on my Integra GS-R, my design plans for a project motor are not around the B18C - they are 100% centered on the B16A.

Handling-wise, the Civic SI is too tall and likes to roll around turns. Even lowered, the best you can do is get it to the level of a stock integra or prelude. I personally think the prelude is the handling champion of the list, followed closely by the integra. If you're a suspension nut, the integra will probably lead the pack once you start going seriously aftermarket.

Looks-wise: The 5th gen ludes had a kick-ass back-end but some mickey-mouse looking headlights that still to this day make me gag. The Integra is cute-looking, with its little round neon-esque headlights. The 99 Civic SI is arguably the best-looking civic ever, perhaps even over some of those sweet ass CRX's back in the day.

In the aftermarket, there are significantly more parts for B-series engines than the H-series. As none of the 3 cars you listed are made anymore, the continuation of aftermarket support is very important. There's no doubt that the B-series parts will be available retail on store shelves for the next 10 years. The H-series parts will probably dwindle in stock and disappear much sooner.

If going for top-end performance with handling, i'd go integra or prelude. For a rice-cookin' neon-light-havin' blinj-blinjin' ghetto sled, I'd go Prelude, then integra, SI last. If looking for a fun, fairly quick daily car that will fly like the wind AND let you carry groceries, I'd go with the SI followed by the Integra. If you like a little of everything (like I do), the Integra is the best balance of features.

go with the SI...T.O.O.'s supercharger had that B16 putting out a lil over 400hp and his system comes with traction control

supercharged hondas suck ass. they have NO potential. if you supercharge a gsr, ill drive my over to your house, shit on your doorstep, and then precede to whoop your cars ass over and over by lengths equivalant to large yellow school buses, and ill even run it on my bald dry rotted tires.

Hey ssshhh, Procharger is a centrifical blower thats intercooled. They are getting better numbers from their kits than 90% of the trubo kits on the market. They are making a bone stock(even exhaust) 99 civic SI do close to 300 HP, on 93 octane. Add a header, HFC, and Cat-back 2.5' or even 3" and you'll be WELL over 300.
And what other SC's are their for Honda besides Vortech and JRSC? I'l definitely agree that Jackson Racing blowers suck balls. Vortech is decent, but you have to get an expensive and unreliable air/water intercooler. What else is there, besides Procharger? I might just be having a brain fart but I can't think of anything else.

i agree prochargers are badass. and i also agree about them being better than 90 percent of turbo kits....thats because 90% of turbokits are designed for pussys. i can only think of 3 kits i would ever put on a car i own. revhard, fullrace, and sparkracing.
they squeezed 300 horses out of stock exauhst!>??? wtf. i wanna see documentation on that. not saying your wrong i just want to know how the fuck they did it.
procharger is the only supercharger that matters. but its still not as fun as turbo.
