I Need Help With Total Restoration of Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR

Hey, Im about to do a total restoration on a Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR that a friend of mine did (he didn't do a very good job). Anyways, I know how to remove the paint from the body (CSC or Brake Fluid) but how do I strip the paint from the chassis, engine, suspension, etc...? Can I use the same method as removing paint from the body, get a plastic container with CSC or Brake Fluid and put the parts in it? If I can do it that way will it eat away the glue holding the parts together or will I have to remove the parts before I put them in the CSC/Brake Fluid.

This will be hard to take off all those parts. THe CSC will loosen the paint up then you'll have to brush it off. I guess you need a lot of brake fluid and time. Mainly soak brush soak brush, but with time and patience it will be done.

The glued parts may become loose or weak as I just read in a past thread said by Integra818

Ive never ran into removing csc from anything! When i want to restore a car i just remove any plated parts that may be in good condtition and take the wheels of and submurge the whole model. in sections though liek frame and motor and then interior and then body.

Thanks for all the help, Im going downtown in about an hour to get some CSC and the other things I need. Well I wait to go I'll start removing sections of the car and get them ready to soak. I'll let you guys know how it turns out in a progress thread.

One more question, does CSC or Brake Fluid remove Enemal paints?

If it was painted with Tamiya acrylics, then Windex will safely remove all the paint.

Yup, just tried it with boyd's enamel paint I forgot which color.

Thanks for everyone's help. I just got back from Walmart with my CSC so I'll be soaking it tonight. I also stopped at my local Hobby Shop and picked up some Tamiya paints for it.

Alright, I put all my parts in the CSC about 2 hours ago and I want to know how long they should be in there for? Ive heard 4 hours, I have heard 24, how long?

If it was a 1:1 Mercedes you know you wouldn't catch me driving it :p.
