Ok, I had a post earlier on about me swapping out my dx cam with an si cam, we did the swap immaculently, marked everything, the belt where it was on the gear, the gear to a spot on the block, and never moved a thing! We put the cam in and it made my car slower, there is no low end torque, and it doesn't even seem like the cam kicks in like it used to around 5grand. It's harder to get out of first gear, gotta keep the rpms up a lot higher to get movin, and the car idles about 250rpms lower than it used to also. Some of you said timing, some said adjust valves to Si spec, well I looked up Si spec and they are the exact same for DX and Si. We checked all the valve lashes today and they were all perfect. If anyone has any more info on the Si specs plz tell...I don't really know what's going on. I don't see how it change so much when it was a perfect install. If anyone has any other suggestions or ideas PLEASE HELP ME! I have been waiting on this swap for a long time and now it's been a big dissapointment.

HELP!!!!!!!!!! *cries* :(

double check your timing... it could be off by a tooth and still run, but not at peak... hell i was off by like 2 teeth and i could drive the car... figured out when i went to back it out of the garage it wasn't right... but it ran like pure crap...

same here man...

my car was off 2 teeth when I bought it. The fuckers who worked on it before couldnt figure out why the timing was off, so the advanced it all the way on the distributor.

Funny, because the car ran ok, but was slow as hell at the track. I was running consistently at 18.1 all dam day long....

Finally I got sick of it and took it to my mechanic. We did a timing belt, and BAM...all of a sudden, my car is an Si again! Like night and day I tell ya. That motor ran 16.3 right before my trans blew up.

So how do I adjust the timing? The distributor? Or the Crankpulley/camgear? And one more thing, sometimes after running it hard, it has trouble starting up, like it puts for like 10-15 secs until it finnaly starts idleing.

if the timing is off you need t remove the crank pulley, take off the timing belt cover, loosen the tensioner, take off the belt... (really good time to change it if it hasn't been lately) line the came gear up with the "up" goin vertical with the engine, which is slightly forward, put the crank pulley on and turn it till the marks are just about strait up and down, pull it off, (this is really easy with an impact gun) place the cover back on and make sure the pulley(the lil notch in the top of it) lines up with the tabs, if it does put the belt on put the cover on, put the crank pulley on and rotate it at least 2 X counter clock wise to put the tension on the belt (care you don't make it jump though) and then tighten the tensioner bolt...
