96 Ford Taurus GL 3.0L Vulcan Auto getting lazy :(

What do you mean by washer/bracket on the throttle cable? I have a 96 ford taurus GL 3.0L Vulcan engine with auto transmission. Lots of transmission problems maybe? The car revs alot but doesn't seem to put the power to the ground, doesn't pull as it used to either. From time to time also, it seems like it has a problem shifting into gear. It sorta jumps then stops drastically when i press on gas (this happens rather rarely but it happens). The car seems to have become really lazy but up on the hill it has the power but acceleration is a bit lazy as of late. Is there anything that can be replaced since I have 208,000 on the engine, cables, spark plugs (last changed before 50,000 bosch with 3 contacts), etc...
PS - When I just wanted to improve the car's performance all of a sudden it started being lazy ass :/ I want it fixed up first. What about engine rebuilds?

I don't think you need an engine rebuild. My brother in laws Taurus has 150,000 miles on the crummy 3.8 V6, and it still doesn't burn oil.
I think your tranny is slippin, change the fluid and filter, (of the Automatic transmission).

Ah fixed it, and engine light off! Went to do emission testing and the guy found the problem too, read everything out of computer (i want one of those lol), and said which sensor was kaput and replaced it. 370 canuck total :( BUT its no longer lazy it pulls real nice hehe. Now about tuning.. hmm little could be put out from this engine id say.. and transmission would fry.. chip tuning... just burning engine, less mpg, more gas, and less life... and little speed.. aw

Hi, I'm having the same problem with my 1996 ford taurus gl, what sensor was it that you needed to replace? Thanks in advance for your help...
