Anyone know for sure if it's possible to swap a stock del Sol S engine with the B16A while keeping the stock automatic transmission? I assume that you can but wanted to get any feedback that may be out there. Not looking for great performance or to race. Just looking to replace a high mileage engine. Thanks.

can't be done. There's a reason all VTEC models with the b16 are 5 speeds. Honda originated as a performance car... the b16 and up engines cannot be coupled to an automatic tranny. Has to be a 5 speed. Just swap the engine and tranny. Manual is better anyways.

I'm not looking to argue, but below are a few links you may want to check out. The allbodykits link has the B16A for sale. Being I'm new at this I'm just looking for any feedback, good or bad, that can be had. Thanks again.

seems like you answered your own question with those links. just look for an auto from japan, and you should be set. the problem is that parts are going to cost a lot more, because of the rarity of an auto b16. good luck if you do it, but i would suggest getting a manual a dropping a b16 in that.

I got a b16a w/auto tranny that came out of a Xsi in Japan, but remember this: every honda dohc engine parts are not compatible with the sohc ones they got different tranny types, so be sure you get a dohc auto tranny it could be an Integra LS/RS tranny.

Botom line is, why would you drive a VTEC with an automatic transmission? Do it right, get a 5 speed.
