Has anyone built anything from the Doyusha 1/24 Nostalgic Hero series?

I've found one of their 1976 corvettes in a shop here and am thinking of picking it up. How does it compare with the other manufacturers
corvettes, like those by Revell or AMT? Is Doyusha known for putting in engine detail, or are they better known for motorized models?

well, I got the doyusha catalog...hmmm the detail looks crap..but if you find the 1:12 scale is much more better and detailed

I build the aston db5 while back well the detail is so so but if you love the car is allright (i'm an aston fans)

Basically .... that series is crap.

They don't even have a full interior for some models, just like those RC car with interior. If you really find a car you want so badly, go for it, otherwise, think other manufacturers.

Although...I bought one muself...:D

I would stay away from the '76 'Vette, go after the MPC instead. However, Doyusha makes some Japanese car kits you can't find anywhwere else, so if you are realy itchy for a '71 Datsun Bluebird like I am, go for it.
A warning though, all of the kits are not a consistant 1/24 scale, some are 1/24, 1/25, while others are 1/22 or even 1/21. In my travels through dozens of Japanese kits in the last 20 years, I'm not sure why they have such a fondness for odd scales. Other notes, most, but not all kits have
a "too big wheel openings/too short window openings syndrome". Yes, they all have the flat interiors and blah chassis for motorization, but ALL Japanese car kits could be motorized until the early 80's.
I'm working on a bunch of these Doyushas to make them quality-worthy, maybe I'm the only one doing it.....

Most of Doyusha's offerings are from molds they bought from defunct manufacturers, so the quality varies. The Nostalgic Heroes series are all designed to be motorized, and have a half interior that is useless. On the other hand, the 1/12 kits were originally made by Otaki, and they were quite detailed for their time with opening doors and full engine detail.

The exceptions are their 1/43 Excellent Model series (Ford GT/Shelby GT500/Reventon/Gallardo), which are all new kits tooled by Doyusha. They are reported to be quite good.

This might be a record...bringing a 9 year old thread back from the dead.
