Did you actually ask if a Chrysler New Yorker had a manual transmission? You!?!?! C'mon....you're the resident Chrysler guy, aren't you?

If this is an E-body New Yorker, I'm fairly sure it's a 3-speed automatic. It should be a four cylinder, possibly turbocharged.

I know that it is an auto because i drove it and yes it is a 4 cylinder and it is turbo charged so you are probally right about it being a 3 speed, but that still doesnt answer my question about how long the trannys last.

I have a 1988, three speed. Still runs. Cannot burn tires but takes me around. And no hint of any problems. Mind you I service it regularly.

Hey, I had like one hour of sleep when I typed that, give me a break. :D

Yeah, it does sound like a stupid question now that I think about it.

All I can say for the autos from that period is that they weren't the best. Baby it and you should be just fine. Abuse it an it will go down the crapper.
