Gunze Sangyo Spray Can Caps?

Just visited my local Hobby Shop (okay it is really a Toys 'r Us, but it is the closest thing to a hobby shop in my town :(). To my surprise they are having a clearance on Gunze Sangyo spray cans! I wasn't even aware they stocked the things and now they are going for $3.50 Australian each :) By comparison Tamiya rattle cans retail in Australia for almost $10 each! Already picked up some of the basic colours like black, white and silver. At that price will have to go back for more later.

My question to anybody familiar with Gunze sprays is how accurate are the cap colours? I ask because juging by the caps some seem to be comparable to certain Tamiya paints. For instance the Gunze 'Shine Red' looks almost exactly the same as Tamiya 'Bright Red'. I Know Tamiya are fairly accurate in the cap colours so can Gunze be trusted in the same way?

Probably. I recall "Shine Red" was a match for the current F1 Ferrari cars. At $3.50 AUS you can't really go wrong, can you? :)

Thanks for the reply Dan. Did a test spray, found Gunze Shine Red and Tamiya Bright Red to be identical in hue. Same colour, same design of can, same smell - I wonder if they are both made by the same subcontractor?

Went out and bought a few more cans today, should be right for paint for quite a while now :D

Does Toys R Us actually have those products? Ive never looked:)

Well the Toys 'r Us in my town does this week. Never noticed them before though. Of course I'm on the other side of the world from you so your local store may be different!
