i didn't think wrx's are that fast.... i seen a souped up one on the street today and it picked up just about as good as a 5.0, prolly better. it sounded mean.
im impressed. just checked stats and they do:
0-60: 5.4
1/4 Mile: 14.1
1/4 Speed: 96

Yeah, they do pretty good off the line.. AWD helps out. But from what i've been told and read they have a tendency to fall off on the top end... But I'm sure they hold their own.

i think you're right on that redneck, when he was at the light he took off nicely, but when he was trying to weave in and out of traffic trying to catch up to me he was a little pokey. or should i say "slow"... for a 14.1 sec car. that's whats nice about the 240, it keeps climbing strong all the way to the loss ;)

Well a friend of mine has an 02 and its not a slug. I was really suprised at how well it runs. He ran a 12.9 at 103 with just some tweaking to the computer and exhaust. We recently did a turbo upgrade and intercooler. And he has a intercooler spray kit on the way. We should find out what it will run on friday night. Ill post up with the numbers

just wait for the WRX STi, that will be a mean car

I never liked the WRX's, they are too boxy and overrated. I think that the STi coming out in the middle of this year will change my mind though. 300 hp and a restyled front end that looks better in my opinion. I've read many comparison road tests between it and the lancer evolution, it should be interesting.

I am in the 11's with my WRX and I am slow.
STi is going to be powerful, however, I am going to wait and see how the "new" 2.5L turbocharged engine is going to hold up. I am still leaning toward a drivertrain swap from JDM STi ( 2.0 L)

subaru's are highly sprung and top end in such cars is non existant they usually use really close ration gearbox's anything over 100mph it isn't so quick.
It's only fast if you know how to drive it :D

first of stock 5.0's are slow. and a wrx can take any stock mustang except for the SVT's, cobra's, and mach1. they can easily take out GT's in a drag. and they can hold there own on the highend since mustangs got no highend either. and those numbers 0-60 in 5.4 second and 1/4 mile in 14.1 those were the specs of the car 2 years ago. its not even the updated 02 specs.

i got the stats from http://www.car-stats.com
they said those were the 02 stats, they could be wrong though.
those wrx's are fast and 4 wheel drive! i would love to take one out for a test drive. what are the 03 stats?

I don't believe the 14.1 for a stock wrx because last year at the drags I never saw a wrx do better than 15.0 they usually ran around 15-15.5 and they weren't beating the 99+ mustang GT's, of course I live in utah and u never know where they did the drag tests for that 1/4 mile time of 14.1

The WRX and the Lan Evo both have short gearing, suitable for sprinting and tight courses.
The WRX has really good power potential, but it is seriously heavy compared to other 2 liter cars. It's weight is well over 3000 lbs, and that puts it in the same league as 3 liter cars, like the Supra and 300ZX...

A wrx shouldnt have any trouble with a stock 94-98 GT but, the 99 and newer Gts would take a wrx, even though the wrx would probably pull a much better 60ft time.

It's 3065 lbs.
It's that heavy because of awd.

yea those are pretty quick for a wagon! but if you want a real fast wagon get a volvo t-5r, my brother has one. those are quicker than the subaru's and a lil more luxurious. its quick, 0-60 in like 6.6. too bad they only made like 1000 of them. they are impossible to find...

someone who knows the power of volvo! hehe... he's stripping the decals tomorrow. 240hp i believe..... and in a wagon.
CAN ANYONE SAY SLEEEEEEEPER?????? that thing can kill new mustang gt's, and all he did was a k&n stock air filter.
btw, the 04 sti's do 0-60 in 5.2, so they are a lil quicker than the current ones. they look sweet. the new lancer evo's do 5.0 i believe..... just read it in a mag today. i'd still rather have a subaru.

yea, he didn't have the t-5r though! it's about 1.5 sec faster 0-60 than the regular turbo, and 40 more horses. i think he's running like 290hp right now.
also the newer volvos look a lot better, but i dont htink i could get one still. but they are awesome sleeprs due to it being a wagon.

So your saying a heavy wagon with only 240 hp is going to beat New mustang GTs with 260 hp and less weight? Sure if the mustang driver screws up, but if not, its a stretch.

Just to clarify you, I have subscriptions to autoweek, motor trend, car and driver, and road and track and everyone got different numbers for both cars
the evo was tested as low as 4.6 and as high as 5.2
the STi was tested as low as 4.7 and as high as 5.2
so it's really a crapshoot on which car is actually faster.

the mag i read said the wrx is 5.2 and the lancer 5.0.
they said that the 4.7 time of the wrx was done by wrx. the 5.2/5.0 figures was done by a third party.
who knows.........

the wrx wagon can do 0-60 in 5.8 seconds. i don't know where your gettin all your stats from. but in motortrend they have been getting that time over and over again. i've never seen any wrx do 0-60 higher then a 5.9 even the wagon. the wagon is just a hair slower then hte sedan. whenever you read a year long log book that they keep of the cars, they still say that they love to kill unsuspecting mustang GT's in there wrx wagon. and even sport compact car, when they tested the WRX wagon, it absolutely destoryed the RSX type S.

no its not. i've been a big fan of hte wrx for a while now. and since they first came out in 00. they did 0-60 in 6.0 flat that was what subaru got, then half a year later, motortrend got and road and track and any other mag was able to get a time of 0-60 in 5.6 seconds. that seems to be the standard. and why would the wagon be 1 second faster? the wagon only weights 50 lbs more. how would 50 more lbs with the exact same power be over 1 second slower then the sedan? and the new STi will hit 0-60 anywhere from 4.4 to 4.7 seconds.

How can u even put the 94-95 gts with the 96and up they went from a 5.0L to 4.6L i have a '91Gt and no wrx that i have ever come up to has ever beatin me so i dont know where yall are getting this about wrx having no trouble beating the 5.0L mustangs.

well some people got freak cars. some kid in my school has a freak 5.0 lx notch back. he has 8 inch wide weld wheels in the back with 245mm, and 16 inch ponys up front. all he has is a cold air intake, h pipe, flow masters, and 3.77 gears in the back. and his car ran a 13.8 at 99mph.( he has time slips to prove it ) that is ridiculous for such a mildly modded 5.0 considering that i have beaten a few modded 5.0's. but i doubt i can take that mustang from 0-60 since its my weakness. however i'm sure i can hang with him up top if not pass him. so there are all kinds of car.
also note that a moderator named carnuttt has a 92 SE-R that only lost to a modded 5.0 that is even more modded then the one i mentioned by a car. so that is the average that they run since that stock SE-R runs a 15 flat. and 5.0's were 15 second cars from the factory.

Yeah, 5.0 + good driver = 15 flat stock. And there are so many cheap mods for it, it's ridiculous...
