AIght, I tried the search and checked a couple of 4th gen websites and didnt find anything so my question is, how do you take it off, what is the gain from taking it off, and is there any cons to taking it off.

first you take off the IM and get the one with the 4 injectors in it and then bolt that on and wire it up :finger:

To answer your question Melt, theres four screws on top plate of the manifold. Take those 4 off (disconnetct your intake pipe first) then theres one screw holding on this gold plate. Take that one screw out and it just comes right out. You more than likely wont get a gain out of it but so far a few people have done this and nothing bad happened. I did it almost a year ago and Im still going strong. Get that MPFI in there though already!!:D

You don't need to take off the intake pipe, just take off the air chamber cover and you will see clearly how to remove it. I never noticed any gain or loss with it in or out, DX doesn't make power for shit either way.

ditto...i can notice a power increase with a good 5mph wind pushing me....that's how power starved my car is:D

the plate is there too add turbulence in the intake manifold to the air and fuel mix better, removing it will usualy result in some cylinders running lean others running rich.

Keep it in bro it's not worth the headache I went thru with my Civic CX... notice I don't have it anymore... hint hint.

i took mine out on my LX... idles pretty rough now... i think it is part of the problem of my code 16. running too rich or too lean in some cylinders and my injectors are trying to over or under compensate and it is messing with my shit. i'm putting it back in in a week when i'm home from college.... having the rough idle isn't worth the ZERO gain I got from removing it.

doesnt really do shit... i did it to my old dx and it was sort of a mind thing... you feel you did something to make your car faster and so it feels faster but in reality, its still hasnt done anything

go mpfi: then you will notice a difference... i got some parts you will need for that

Melt, Kris is selling the whole mpfi setup for $200 in the classifieds. Definitely worth it if you ask me. Do it dammit!!!:p

honestly, i dont see how it WOULDNT do anything, seeing as how its a giant restriction in the airflow.

Also, as a tip for the STD, i've found one of the reasons it has 70hp as opposed to the DX 92 hp is that underneath the throttle body, there is a plate that restricts the throttle plate. swap one with a DX and you will gain some power as well, but its still a 1.5L DPI, so good luck .

On the DPFI it has 2 butterfly valves, one isn't there to restrict, one is there for normal throttle action and the other is attached to a dash pot which will open it to make the idle higher when the engine is cold. I took my old DPFI apart, what an amazing piece of shit, 2 injectors just shoot gas down the tube and hope it enters the cylinder on the intake stroke. What a disaster.
