Anyone seen the new ones, these ones are being made by Carroll Shelby I believe, I had seen something about them long ago that he was going to start building them again.

the car in the picture is called the GT500e. carol shelby had a limited number of old gt500 bodies from the 60's left over in the warehouse. He decied to use them up by building Elenor clones. There are a limited number for sale. im not sure of of the specs...im sure someone else will know.

Why do you need nitrous? If you are willing to spend 100K on one, you can have a 700hp 428 in it. All of the movie cars were 302's with the exception of one, the 351, and that was for recording the sound of the car.

You are correct that these are being made currently today. The guy who came up with it lives in Plano, TX and the photo you posted is from the Running Horses fountains in Los Colinas, TX aka Dallas.

The owner of the company who is building these clones spoke at the Tulsa Shelby meet a couple of weeks ago and there are two types being made. One with their standard engine and the other with a SCJ. He was bragging about who all has put an order in for one and the only name I remember was Kidd Rock a rapper because I thought it would end up on a music video.

They ran the cars in the road rally and on the drag strip. VERY UNIMPRESSIVE times. These things cost $150K and they were 13 sec cars. My stock 429CJ does that and I didn't pay $150K.

Oh my God! why say things like that when you dont know what some of you are talkin bout. The GT500e is being produced by the Carrol Shelby company and sanderson sales. There will be 475 models made with a range of colours, they come WITH NOS [B] The previous post was roundabout correct they do cost that much but that is the price of the most advanced model called the "SUPER SNAKE" THIS HAS ALL THE DOGS BOLLOCKS IN!. the cheapest base model costs $80k and still is mind blowing. there are 3 models the "base model" has a 125 shot of NOS and a lot of good shit in it. The "PERFORMANCE" model has lots more at $120k including NOS system, front and rear disc brakes. The "SUPER SNAKE" model just demands total respect at a cost of $150k it is expensive but trust me you get what you pay for.On the sanderson sales site there is a massive amount of info, specs, pics and colour options. there is also a production line page where you can look at how these awesome beauties are made. They are restored from original Shelby Fastbacks from 1967/68 anyway for all the info visit
Hope that was informative cheers reply soon!

k OK! but doesn't it just piss you off when people think they know what they are on about when you get someone like me waiting in the wings who obviously knows more.People should not automatically think they know more than someone else who they havn't met!
agree or disagree? :thefinger

Yeah, I looked at the marketing hype on the website just like you too. However, I watched the car run in both the road racing and drag racing and it was NOT impressive. Maybe they were running their base model - who knows, but what I do know is that it ran in the 13's on the drag stripe no matter how much "good shit" it had under the hood.

Seeing is believing....and one shouldn't always believe what they read on a website.

maybe you're right but like you said it may have been the base model which is not impressive but the super snake ishighly impressive and ive seen a video clip where it ran in a moderate 11 so really it is good wen its got the super snake !

OK, spark plug, you're mistaken on the "Gone in 60 Seconds" car tech shite. There were a baker's dozen Mustangs, most with either 289s or 302s, one or two with a 351W and, as for the sound effects, it was a real 427 side-oiler with side pipes making all those lusty rumblings. Oh, and there was one real Shelby GT500, the rusted 'Stang Otto was working on at the end of the movie, which Jerry Bruckheimer had restored and built up like Eleanor for his personal collection. And from what I hear, he's scared to drive it...

ok who here has honestly driven a GT 500, i think that i would be one of the few and sorry but whoever was driving that 500 at the drag strip must not be a very good driver because i drove my boss's that had 38000 original miles and is in mint condition, yea its alot quicker than any credit u've given it Wings. and about that stock 429, i be doubtin its real, no offense to your judgement but a gt 500 can run a quarter in the least 8.5

If you want to know about this car then got to www.uniqueperformance.com, this guy is not shitting you they really are building these but they start at like $99k...with 425 hp up to 725 hp for the "super snake".... Look for yourself and you will feel like a dumbass for doubting this guy!

No offense Corn Dog, but I haven't seen many non-alcohol muscle cars capable of anywhere near 8.5 seconds in the quarter mile. You'd need a hell of a lot more than 750 horsepower (that's the total horsepower of a Shelby Super Snake GT500E with it's NOS powershot engaged) to dip into the 10s and 9s, let alone the 8s.

This is mustangwizard and at this years Midwest Shelby meet in Tulsa Okla. in June, a guy with a 1966 Ford Falcon with a Iron 427 stroker motor with 1 -4 barrel carb ran an 8.36 at 162 MPH!!!

OK, I will try to clean up what spark_plug hasn't already. First of all, Carroll Shelby and Sanderson Sales are producing a limited number of GT500Es. The base model has a 302 motor. The middle model has a 351 motor. The Super Snake as a 427 motor (With optional Vortech blower). All the cars are 1967 and 1968 Fastbacks, NOT Shelbys. If you have any questions, post up!

OK
I have written in many magazines about these cars so please listen to me.

Sanderson had some involvement in the beginning. HE AND HIS COMPANY NOW ARE IN NO WAY ASSOCIATED WITH UNIQUE PERFORMANCE OR SHELBY AMERICAN. Lets just say the relationship ended badly over 2 years ago.

the GT 500E is produced by Unique Performance with Carroll Shellby. I have driven all 3 varients up to the Super Snake which will leave your eyeballs a block behind your skull. It is equipped with NOS but it is not hooked up. there is no reason for it to be and in some states it is Illegal so....

Also they are building up "Rescued" mustangs.

I wrote an article in issue 4 of Automobile Quarterly where i asked Shel what he had to say about the folks who say they are not real shelby's
simply his responce was "I Don't give a *%*(*&^(*^ what anyone says the only %#$^%$ person who can say what the@*$@* a shelby is is me. any one else can go to hell"
