I am seriously considering the C230 Kompressor Sports Sedan, but my neighbor said something that really bothered me and I wanted to see what everyone else thinks:
"The C Class Mercedes is just a $30,000 Chrysler Engine"
Is this true? Because I hate to say it, but I might consider the 325i instead if this is the case. I want a car that has true european engineering, not just the name.

:alien: I was considering 230 seden until I see the 230k sport coupe.
engeine runs great! very quiet and smooth ride.
I bought my silver little racing puppy comes with the c5 package, leather seat, Bose system, and open roof still under $30k! great value. Hey, Mercedes-Benz is under the DaimlerChrysler for years already anyway. it doesn't really matter as long as benz product line keep up with their classy design and maintain their quality. I think you should shop around more and do some more test drives of different models and try different makers as well and find out what you really want!

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! Your neighbor is a freaking idiot! No don't listen to them! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! The kompressor engine is in no way a chrysler product. why would mercedes use chrysler engines????????? it's the other way around, chrysler will use mercedes engines in its products until the company gets back on its feet (i.e. the chrysler crossfire uses a BENZ engine-3.2 liter found in the C320, E320, SLK 320, and CLK 320- BENZ will hopefully never use a chrysler engine even if its a hemi b/c thats just not right) mbz has to keep its image and if it uses some (no harm/trash talking meant) trashy chrysler engine it will totally undermine what BENZ buyers are looking for. oh jeez, so glad i could clear that up.

Your neighbor is an idiot, prob. just jealous because he can't afford one. However, that said, the Merc isn't much of a chrysler! Take a look at the build quality, the engines, styling and reliability. Merc is in a whole other division than Chrysler's most (except from the crossfire which interior is exactly the same as of the SLK's)
I'd check out the Saab 9-3 Sport Sedan, If I were you.. It's brand new and is seriously fun to drive. Just take it for a test drive, and you seriously won't regret it!

A chrysler engine would have more power. I've pounded on a few mercedes with the smaller engines. But if you are looking for comfort its a good car.
