I am painting the door panels, and the cloth piece is annoying the hell out of me....I sprayed a full can of paint on it, and it only covered maybe 3/4 of it well....is there anything I can do to make the paint stick better? I was thinking maybe spray as much primer on as I can since it's cheaper than the paint, but if anyone else has ideas that will save me some time and money let me know.

You said that you are using a spray paint. Is it a dye or enamel. Hopefully it is a dye.

It doesn't say either on the can.....and I know that some people on here have painted the cloth panels before, and had it turn out looking good, but I can't remember who did it.

Edit: I got the paint in the automotive section of Wal-Mart.....all the colors and types of paint were mixed together so I don't know for sure what the paint is meant for, but it has a picture of a dash on the can so I'm assuming it works for vinyl and hoping for cloth.

I've completely redone my door panels - http://shadowviper.hopto.org - I started out with taking the door panels off completely, by breaking the plastic welds on the back, once you do that you can take the carpet off and wrap your new material (vinyl or new carpet or whatever) in it's place. But before you do that primer your full door panel completely and then paint over it. Or even better wrap the whole door panel in vinyl (this will hold up better). If you have any more questions, feel free to ask.

I've thought about doing this, but how did you re-attach the pieces after busting the plastic welds?

you reattach the plastic welds by melting them with a heatgun or soldering iron.

on another note, i dont think you can take the cloth panels off of the Si doors. i tried, and it appears that the seam is actually melted vinyl, sealing the cloth to the vinyl part of the door.
