Buy an eclipse?

My cousin has a 92 Eagle Talon TSi AWD, same exact thing as an 92 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX, right? Well, he wants me to get a GSX too.... but i heard alot of bad stuff about DSM engines and 4G63 engines. I heard that they aren't too reliable... when they die, they DIE! i mean its really hard to fix them? so should i buy one, and if i do, what year and why?

the first gen 6 bolt motors are built strong but the trannys are lacking,
but the 6 bolts are stronger than the 95-99 7 bolts and i dont know whats in the 200 + eclipses cause i dont like them
