sportline or pro kit

i am going to get either the eibach sportline or prokit, i want a nice lower, and great performance, way better handling and stiffer ride, i might do some autocross but not to worried about that, wich one should i go with? Alos do i need a front and rear camber?

Personally I'd go with a prokit. It's pretty stiff, better handling (i think) than sportline, and has an agressive drop of up to 2". If you dropped it to the max, I'd recommend the camber correction or you'll be going through tires really fast with a drop like 2". That's just my personal preference though.

You also might want to check out the H&R Sport springs. Slightly better handling than the prokit, though it doesn't lower it as much.

I suggest at least a front camber kit. If you plan to autox than you need much more than just springs and a camber kit. Go for a full coilover kit.

racing: coilovers

maybe not: pro-kit. the prokit is stiffer than the sportline, and cheaper, and has much better handling. The prokit is designed for a 1.5-1.75" drop (though often does settle to abot 2") and is designed for better handling. with the right shocks, you should have a great set-up. a camber kit isnt all that necessary with that low of a drop. if it starts to settle a lot cause you used cheap shocks, you will see some tire wear sooner than normal.

essentially, Im just agreeing with civicHX, I've done A LOT of research on the suspension possibilities with Eibach, so I figured I'd back him up.

Personally I would'nt waste my time even researching eibach for suspension. Like I said go for a full coilover kit, i.e. Tein, Zeal, Buddyclub, etc. All these put an eibach setup to shame. Yeah the price is up there but you get what you pay for.

I kinda agree with B16 on this one (how's that for non-committal?). There are definately coilovers that'll do better, but on the other hand if you couple a prokit with KYB AGX shocks, or even koni yellows, i hear that's a really tough combo to beat. I haven't heard much on some of the full coilovers that B16 mentioned, so I can't say which is better. If B16 has ridden both and says coilovers are better, I'd say go with him and look into the coilovers.

All the companies I listed are JDM. I'm not a big JDM advocate but these are the best coilover setups out there. Maybe some of the real autoxers on this site can list some cheaper USDM setups but as I said they won't be better.

sportline def. :)

Pro kit drops 1.4" settled and sportlines are a 1.8" drop that tend to settle to 2".

Pro kit front camber can leave as is, 2 washers to correct the rear camber.

Sportlines will need a camber kit if you daily drive and worried about uneven wear.

Pro kit and AGX is the setup I currently have and it handles great and perfect for daily driving. I would definity recommend getting adjustible shocks, sometimes you just want to cruise or go on long trips and being able to go from a stiff uncomfortable ride to almost close to stock Is definitly a plus. If your planning to occasionally Auto-x for fun, H&R sport springs might be a better pick with some Koni's... very streetable. If you're a little more serious Ground Control or Skunk2 coil over sleeves are nice and you can get custom spring rates.

If you want to get dirty  go with a full coilover setup like B16EJ1 suggested. But get ready to laydown some major BANK$$$ for some of the quality setups.

*EDIT: Just noticed you have a 5gen hatch. :bloated: I'd go with ground control, Skunk2's OR H&R cup kit.

(but, HXCivic97, I thought I was the only one!?:D )

now I never said anything against coilovers. ESPECIALLY if you are gettin into racing, get em. they're worth it. especailly if you're lookin to get into autoX. but if you're gonna be on the street, you really dont need em, and could put the money into something else.

CivicSiRacer is a big AutoX'er, PM him see what he thinks.

I was looking into getting the sportline or the pro, and I just put on the pro's 2 days ago, and it really helped the ride. I thought it would be alot stiffer, but you only feel that on really rough roads. I was happy with the drop, its gunna let me put bigger tires on it still.

do you have any pictures with hubcaps or rims? i would like to see the front wheel gap better, and the rear, or if anyone else has a picture of their pro kit / sportline kit on their car i would like that too, how was the performance on those?

Tried to touchup firzen's pics a bit to see the wheel gap differences a bit clearer. Hope this helps.

i have the sportline on a 90 HB

im worried that it might not be alow enough drop, i have low proflile tires but with 16 inch wheels so my ride height isnt any different, is that drop going to make it so i dont have a wheel gap?

relientokay
05-12-2003, 09:27 PM
and im probably going to get koni yellow shocks, is that going to be a good set up?

I'm ok with the drop. Its not slammed, and it looks a lot better in person then in pictures. Sometimes I do wish the front was a bit lower.

I'm riding on 15" and there is about a 2 finger gap in front and 1.5 finger gap in the rear. It's great for daily driver. If you really want a slightly better looking drop (about 1.5") with handling to match I've been told that H&R sports are a better spring.

I'm talking from experience on a 6gen coupe tho so I really couldn't tell you how the drops would look on your hatch. :(

EDIT* I know this wasn't one of your picks (H&R sport) but since you seemed concerened about the drop I figured you probably won't be satisfied with the Pro kits.... so here are some pics of H&R sports I found...

i have the same on rims from the 3rd picture, that seem like a better drop than the pro kit.

what kind of camber kit should i get, wich is the best for the price, and what kind, i know nothing about cambers, but i dont want uneven wear, i do like the h&r drop better, and they are cheaper, do they handle well? my brothers friend has a 98 a jetta vr6 and he just got a cup kit for his, it looks sweet, and the handling is awesome, should i expect the same from the srpings?

What about the h&r race springs are those to stiff fro daily driver/ too low?

come on guys, help me out with the camber, i am postitive im going to get the h&r springs with koni yellows, is this good, please hlep with camber, what is best performance for the price?

I had a 90 Si and i have the the sportlines on tokiko blues and it was a great drop, the prokit only drops an inch and the sportlines drop a good 2 inches cause they settle a lot but you can't beat the nice ride and stiffness!!!! but you should deffinatly get a camber kit for the front, cause mine fuked up my tires, but the rears were fixed by washers!

wheel1856

well reliant, seeing as no one cares to comment about the camber kit. I would say go with a good name. Does Koni or H&R make a camber kit? When you get down to it, a camber kit is really just the same as OEM hardware, but smaller, or larger, depending on what you did with your suspension.

I would assume ( I could be wrong) that a camber kit is like toast, hard to f*ck it up. So long as the control arm is well contrusted, most of them are molded, bolts is bolts, and your bushings match the bushings on the rest of the car (use rubber w/ rubber, urethane w/ urethane) you should be fine.

like I told ya though, I don't know much about camber kits, I haven't looked into them, but I would imagine, that finding a camber kit that is made for the size of drop you're getting by any brand would be fine. granted I wouldnt buy from bubba motorsports, but you get the idea.

good luck
(pics when you're done?)

will the h&r sport springs have too high of a spring rate for the knoi yellow shocks?

wheel1856
05-18-2003, 08:41 PM
are the Koni yellows the adjustable ones? if so, then no.
there's alot of people on here with that set-up, and from what I can remember, I dont think they've had problems with it. many people really like it. so i dont think the spring rate would be a problem. what does Koni say about spring rate ratios for the yellows?

supapoopa
05-19-2003, 11:18 AM
H&R and Koni's will work great together (yellow or reds can handle spring R. )

Sorry but I've never really done any research on camber kits (didn't need them with pro-kit). But I do know that there are postives and negatives to what each company offers (design). I guess it depends on how low the drop is also.

PM civicSIracer. Ask him what he recommends.
