Camshaft Position Sensor on '97 4.6

The Check Engine light lit up on my '97 bird and OBD-II Scanner sez P0340, which I tracked down to a problem with the Camshaft Position Sensor Bank 1. Car is still running fine -- seems there are two of these and it runs on just one if the other fails...

Trouble is... I cannot find either of them...!

I have a Chilton's covering up thru '96, which I figured would get me close, but no cigar. Checked my '95 and still could not find the thing, even tho Chiltons said "remove one screw" to remove it. (No pictures except wire diagram).

I think there should be 2 of these, one for each cylinder bank, and must be somewhere near the bracket that holds the ignition coils at front of the valve cover where the 4 plug wires plug in on each bank. Is it somehow incorporated within the coil, bracket, or hidden behind it...?
Seems it has to be somewhere near the front end of the camshaft... (I see no sign of it at the back end either.)

Can anyone explain how to find it....?

Thanks...!

There is one of them and it is located under the drivers side coil and to the left of the power steering fluid reservoir (when looking from the front of the car).

Thanks much 97Bird...!

I found it.

However, since there's only ONE, now I'm probably gonna find it's not the problem, as I see NO way the engine would run (espsecially just like new, as it does...!) if the cam position sensor had failed.

I though there were two, then the engine can run if only one is working... but if only one...??? Has Ford figured out some magical scheme to determine which plug/injector gets the action if the cam sensor has failed...?

The complete message from the Scanner was:

"P0340..."
"Camshaft A Bank 1 on single sensor..."
"Fuel System 1 closed loop..."
"Calculated Load 35-6 %..."

I am going to install new Cam sensor... If no help will take it to the professionals...

check the wires going to the sensor known for breaking inside the plug
