Suburban Power Steering Leak.. Help!

Ok..

So for a couple of days I was hearing some type of nosie every time I turned.. I just thought it was time to change my oil and top off all my fluids.. So I did..

A day or two later I lsot my power steering completly and the nosie was gone also.. I drove to Meineke and they gave me more power steering fluid.. but as soon as I started my truck it all spit right out.. It told me it could either be a hose or the pump itself..

How do I figure out which it is??

when you lost the power steering due to no fluid the power steering pump is now destroyed...

replace pump and any old hoses that look like they would leak ,,after replacement check for leaks and fluid level often ..

Not so on my 1994 Sub power steering gear, 2WD half ton. I've replaced several (CarQuest lifetime warranty) high pressure side power steering hoses, for the same reason I replaced the original one: leak at the hose crimp, just too tight of a bend (thanks, GM engineers !!!).

However, that's just a slow leak. My acute problem was all the power steering fluid leaking out, happened twice to Mrs. Cusser. What happened to me was that the high pressure hose screw-in fitting nut (under the PS box) keeps vibrating loose, and I tighten it with a flare wrench (either 16mm or 18mm, both required for that high pressure line, can't remember which one is at the bottom. So now I just check that nut for tightness every time I crawl under. Still on factory PS box, 206K miles, and Bars Leaks PS stop leak seems to have done its job, and has a money back guarantee.

But running out of PS fluid did not trash my power steering.
