Audi rally cars a few questions..??

Can anyone confirm which variant of the Audi Quattro this is and also from which rally..??

http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b61/stevenoble/A2_04.jpg

I'm also trying to find the colour codes for the paints, particularly the red, grey and the dark brown/black colour that make up the stripes on the bonnet, so I can paint these instead of using decals. Any help on this appreciated. Audi codes or RAL etc so that I can get them mixed at Hiroboy.

One last question, a suitable yellow or the colour code for the yellow used on the HB sponsored Audi's...

If anyone can help it's most appreciated.

1983 Tour de Corse. Hannu Mikkola.
Pretty sure that was the first outing of the newer lighter version of the Grp B Quattro.

Yes, it's the Quattro A2. In terms of colours, wait for rallymaster to chime in, he's usually got all or most of the RAL codes for the cars

In fact it's the A1 Quattro, which first race was 1983 Monte Carlo, whereas the first race of the (lighter and mostly shorter) Sport Quattro which you're probably thinking about was 1984 corsica. :)

Unfortunately I haven't RAL codes for these (too) former car colors, but TS-8 might (?) match the red, for the grey I use "codex grey" from Citadel colors, and the dark brown is a personal mix from Citadel colors.the yellow of the HB sponsored car is similar to the tamiya yellow (TS-?) which is the darker one between TS-16 and TS-?.
I'm sorry I haven't anything more precise at the moment, but I'll try to find something more usefull.

Just want to add that the grey/red/dark-brown stripes are made of the Audi Team usuall jistoric colors, also used on the IMSA cars etc.
So perhaps a match could be found in other Audi racing sources.
maybe a call to an Audi cars center could bring any clue...?

Are you sure it's the A1 Phil? Was there a crossover between the A1 & A2? All my research so far, has indicated that the A1 had the single inlet duct in front of the rear wheels (which IIRC started appearing towards the end of '82) & the A2 (used mostly in '83?) had 2 of these ducts. I don't have the rally 'bibles' handy, but I'm pretty sure the 1st pic is '83 Corsica, whilst the HB car is the short wheelbase Sport Quattro '84 model, which was used just before the 'bells'n'whistles' winged S1 monster

No, would have called it the 'Sport'.

Just went and pulled out the books. It was the first appearance of a lighter version of the Quattro. They reduced the engine bore size slightly so the car came under the 3 ltr class limit. Class weight went from 1100kg down to 960kg. It really did not give the car the performance boost they were looking for, although they were better, and Audi failed to get the car down to the limit even with lightweight panels.

Thanks for the replies so far. I did a little poking about and found this page with some RAL numbers for the red, grey and brown colours.

Rallymaster maybe you mean TS Chrome Yellow...?? For the HB car.... Same as used on the Benetton B192.

Ok, ok, I was mostly wrong on informations, my appologizes... I verified in the books, too.
So here are the corrected informations:
"A" is for aluminium block and 1 for first homologation in 83 January, but the 2 was homologated in 83 may, due to the coefficient applied to turbo engines putting the 2144 cc block over the 3 liters (for only 3cc !!) then a 2109cc engine block was homologated in 83 may, that's what I forgot (evolution always appeared during season, in May :sly:), answered too fast, oops, I'll be beaten in public place for that ! :runaround:
the "lighter" "A" Quattro with smaller block then could down its weight to 960 kg, but in reality Audi never made it under 1000 kg.
then, back to picture, this really is the first A2 appearance, 83 Corsica when homologation came.
