Vr6 VS Type-S rsx

hmmm
I realy cant wait to know who can burn the other.
but from my experiences, I think a Vr6 can burn the rsx......since I got my Vr6 I had a couple of races with honda. and non of them can get me. but I never got a race with the rsx ...yet.
I would like it if anybody can tell me about his race with an rsx.

Yup, even though I have the vr6 w/only 174 hp, I demolish cars like the rsx, celica, and various other japenese cars that have to be thrashed to accelerate. I'm not dissing japenese cars, but sometimes reaching your peak torque at like 5,000,000 rpms isn't helpful while drag racing. I even killed an s2000 a couple of months ago (wing and some graphics, but the guys were cool about it). Actually, the car was tastfully done, but because its torque is reached at high rpms it couldn't keep up with my gti from light to light. Ovbiously, if we could have raced longer he would have won, but don't burst my bubble!

even I've got to admit that Hondas are hard to get off the line unless you got some major mods done, but once they are up to speed keeping up with anyone isn't hard at all. between 30 and 80mph I own most other cars... is crazy being able to do almost 70mph in second gear at 7,500rpm.
But even I am getting tired of having to revv the hell out of my engine all the damned time, and am planning on getting a VR6 this fall.

imma burst ur bubble :D j/k. atleast u admit he should beat u in the long run. u guys are correct tho, our motors take forever to make any type of power, but after u get outta 1st gear, then the lack of lowend really doesn't matter. git1689, u should try gsr's for a lil longer then just 1st gear, cuz it'd be a VERY close race.
j/w, are u swapped Killa_CRX, cuz non-vtec motors don't exactly "kill" ppl between 30-80mph w/ out some FI or something of the sort. not dissing u at all, jus wondering how u pull that off.

my non vtec lude (89 si) kills alot of people in lowend...
and a non vtec motor is generally tuned for more lowend, b/c they don't rev as high...
when you rev as high as vtec motors tend to, you lose some lowend for the higher rpm power...

yes, i kno this. but after 30mph, ur sorta outta ur bottom end. i mean...after im outta 1st gear, my car pulls the hardest from 30-90mph (so i don't consider that low-end, cuz yes, my low end is a joke)
the guy says he's rev'n to 7400 rpm, so its not like he's staying very low either. an the SOHC motors (im still assuming no swap) aren't really known for their get-up at any rpm range (w/ out heavy mod's) so that was my whole question.
im not saying that its impossible, an not doggin his car at all, jus was asking how he did it short of a swap or FI.
so once again...im not saying that a honda isn't going to have a stronger lowend the top...jus am asking THIS guy, NOT U, how HE did it.

Yeah, after first gear most rsx's or integra's start to get into their comfort zone w/ the vtec and the higher rev limit. Usually, a longer race is very close (sometimes i win sometimes he wins, matters on the mods and the driver/conditions). I have been beaten by an integra once or twice and i'm not sure if it was stock or modified, but the race was very close (he beat me by about half a body length). Then again, I don't get the chance to race integra's or rsx's that much because i just don't see many around that wanna race. One time, I was racing this blue civic si with a turbo kit (saw the guage pod on the driver-side a piller) and I killed him off of the line and all the way into second, but then his turbo spooled up and he made up ground really quickly. He eneded up beating me at around 80 some miles per hour and thus I will never underestimate a turbo'd civic again.

vw's are mostly all lowend when it comes to power. theres just gobs of power and torque down low. my 1.8t has tons of that starting from about 2200 rpms on up. after that, the the power and torque curves are pretty flat all the way to redline. so... with our motors, even the VR6... theres no need to rev the heck outta them! But then again... with all that power down low, traction can be a big problem.

We talking stock here?
Doesn't the RSX(while 200hp at the crank) only lay 148hp on the pavement? If this is the case, VR6 will roast the RSX...
Modified, well, we'd obviously need more information.

its more like 165-170 to the pavement.
from a stop, the vr6 will stomp it through 1st, an half of 2nd, then end of 2nd, an all of 3rd, the type s will pull.
from a 40mph roll...not even close, the type s will smoke it.

My old CRX had a B16A in it... cause yeah, without the VTEC the power falls off around 5k rpm or so in the crappy DX engine (with a whole 92hp)
My current Civic has a D16Y8... pulls quite nicely between 5k and 7.5k rpm.
Sorry it took so long for me to answer, but I haven't been checking the board lately

yes, from a stop, the rsx-s isn't that impressive. but its' mid range PULLS. its got a great gearing set-up for races from a 40mph roll. its like i said before...from a stop, the dub will prolly win (in a full 1/4, but the type s will be pulling at the end), but from a roll...the type s will pull past the gti.

:( I don't know man. Honestly, I think the gti has some serious pulling power from a roll. I think that from a roll at 40 the rsx would surge ahead, but maybe from a roll at like 60 or maybe even 50 it would be more close. Personally, I'm just speculating because i have only tried rolling races from like 100 or 90 on the highway and thats where the gti pulls like crazy. from 40 it will probably lose to an rsx b/c i remember a comparision between a 1.8t gti, a honda civic si, and a couple of other cars and the civic had the fastest rolling acceleration time at lower speeds (i.e. 40 or 50 i forget) The gti pulled away in the 70-90 test and it was the fastest in the group (an older issue of automobile magazine). Your probably right about the 40 mph roll, but i'm not sure about a roll from 70 and up. If i remember correctly u raced a vr6 jetta on the highway and it kept up, so i don't know. I'm confused.

yes yes...the jetta DID keep up. im not doggin the gti at all. i think they're sweet, but from 40, its gonna get killed. i can't even keep up w/ the new type s's from a roll. it'll beat me by ATLEAST a car an a half. from a stop...yes, i can beat them (did so at the track). they aren't impressive from a stop, but from a roll where they pull in their mid-range...they'll pul like crazy.
im not questioning the numbers u've read, but from my races an track times i've SEEN, the gti would lose pretty badly from a roll. but from a stop, the gti would prolly beat it, but it'd still be close.
all of my comments are jus based on past experiences...so don't think im tryin to put the gti's down at all. i can't argue w/ a car that will hit 14's w/ only a chip, an i really do like the styling of them.
but..i dunno bout the 90-100, we usually run from 40, an so by then, we shut down cuz the type s has about 2 cars on me by the end of 3rd.

o ok...jus reread that. my fault. outside of 80, i dunno, i've never seen the gti's top end. should be a lot closer, maybe w/ the gti coming out on top if it pulls like u say it should from 90+.

DING.DING.DING.
THE BELL OF PERSONAL EXPERIENCE HAS RUNG!!!
OK... It was a sunday night and I was in my friends 2003 VW VR6. And we were bored and me and my friend saw this RSX-S and so we decided to pull up on it and then to our surprise it was keepin up REALLY REALLY WELL!!! I mean the car was always a half-a-car ahead of us and then he beat us.
BUT then we stopped at a light and my friend and the RSX-S owner complimented each other. And then my friend said and I quote "You wana go at it again". And so they did but they did it from the stop light. And my friends VR6 pulled strong off the line. And we won this time. And it was the last we saw of the RSX-S owner.
PEACE!!!!:smoker2: :grey: :sun: :bandit:

From the fact that a VR6 has a 6-cylinder engine and the RSX is a 4-banger that basically speaks for itself. IMO i think that VR6 would make it a better car to drive because of its lightness and design. Its hard to compare a Euro car with a Jap. Espcially with the new Golf R32...a 3.2L engine can eaisly waster a "RSX".. it was tested on a track where it was 4 seconds faster than the Subarau Impreza...for a little hatchback like this... i find it very astonishing and amazing. So when the new R32 hits the street in NA... riceboys with their RSX better watch out!

uh...the fact that it is a VR6, doesn't mean much. put the VR6 next to the s2000, which only has a "lil 4-banger." sure the golf R32 can put the rsx to shame, but who says the rsx is top of the line for acura/honda? im not tryin to sound like im tryin to flame u at all...but i don't really see the point of ur thread, other then the R32 being better then the rsx, which is pretty obvious.

Are we talking about a stock GTi VR6 or just a VR6, because, the reason why a gti will kill in the takeoff, is because all GTi's have a close ratio tranny.. good 4 drag racing.. My brother had a vr6 GTi went 225 KM/h on our road..so ya.. happy dubbin!:bigthumb:

i dont know. i would like 2 think it is, but thats b/c i own a gti and an r32 is part of da same breed. maybe around the track, but im not sure about a drag race. it might be close, but i really have no idea becasue no magazine has done an agressive launch with a US spec r32.
