how do you replace the starter drive on the gear reduction starter.

I replaced one about a month ago on my Impala. The starter drive is held in place by a fork so it took some time to get it right. I had a hell of a time finding just the starter drive. I ended up going to a place that rebuilds starters and bought one from them.

This should help: http://www.delcoremy.com/pdfs/service_manuals/current/1M-128.pdf

how do you replace the starter drive on the gear reduction starter.

many yrs ago repairing a starter or alternator was common practice..today how ever time is money and for maximum profit shops do not repair these items therefore finding parts is almost impossible...

then if found the cost is too great to justify this !

The one I did last month also had the solenoid pressed on and I would not call it a light duty starter. You can still rebuild it, you just have to get the starter drive clipped into the shift lever.
