99 towncar a/c

I have replaced my thermostat 3x now, it runs hot when I switch it to a/c and now it barely blows out on any setting?

What thermostat are you talking about? Do you have the EATC (I'm not sure if this is standard on TCs)?

It sounds like you may have a blend door actuator issue. This is common. That would cause hot air to blow even when A/C is selected.

Can you hear the blower fan running? Does the speed change appropriately with the fan speed settings? If not, you may also have a blower motor resister issue, or a bad blower motor.

It's a coolant thermostat that I have replaced. I can not hear the blower running nor does it change speeds when I adjust the settings. I can feel a very low amount of cold air only during acceleration.

Sounds like you have 2 problems, a over heating issue and a blower motor resistor issue. The blower motor resistor is located under the hood at the firewall passenger side. You will have to look for it as its under the heater core hoses, there are 2 7mm bolts holding in place. I would remove and check the pig tail that connects to it and make sure its not corroded or something. As far as your over heating issue goes, it could be anything. Did you "burp" the coolant system and refill it to proper level? FYI if the car is over heating, assuming your resistor is working and blower is working on ALL speeds, the ac system will not work as good bc the condenser is right next to the radiator which is over heating as well. How long does it take to get to temputure? Do you hear your electric fan coming on when the AC system is turned on? You might want to check the cooling fan relay. Also, if your capable and can do it safely, have the engine running, turn on the AC system, if the electric fan is not turning on or is running at low speed, take a handle, from a hammer or long screwdriver and wack the back of the cooling fan motor and see if it either comes on or speeds up, if so, then the cooling fan motor is bad and needs replacing. Let me know how you make out.

Kitt1993, I believe he meant that the A/C still blows hot air, not that the engine is running too hot. If this is infact what he meant than changing the engine thermostats has no effect on the HVAC system. The only sensors that related to the EATC module are the sun sensor, the inside air temperature sensor, and the outside air temperature sensor (located in front of the A/C condenser).

Since the blower motor is not working at all, I don't think it is the resistor. IIRC, if the resister goes, the blower motor either is off or at max speed and can not be controlled anywhere in the middle. Best way to proceed would be to check the voltage to the blower motor. If there is a voltage and it varies with fan speed settings, than the blower motor needs replaced.

Thermostat, runs hot, when a/c is on. Hmmm I bet the dam cooling fan is not working correctly.
