my dioramas

as requested by some, here are pics of rally dioramas i made way back. Im also including a brief how to for anyone intersted in building one :)
STEPS:
First the base was made out of 1inch thick plywood and covered with a putty to make all the textures and shape of the road and the bank. The putty consists of flat white acrylic paint that comes in cans (industrial type) mixed with calsomine (white powder used to thicken acrylic paints), and an amount of industrial white glue (elmers glue will do but more expensive) to bind all the components.
When the desired composition was reached, rocks of different sizes were placed on random aera's while the putty is still soft. When everything hardens ( about two hours ) everything was coloured with brown acrylic as a base color. From theredark hues of browns, greens, ochres were worked up to the lighter shades.
For the tree, roots of a plant were used and placed upsidedown using clay. Then dried moss was glued on its branches and some on the ground. Then some smaller pieces of rocks were sprinkeld and different kinds of spices ( i used mcormic spices :) ) to ad more texture on the groundwork. When everything was done, the whole thing was sprayed with gloss varnish so seal everything up and hold everything in place, and to give it a wet look.
for any one doing a snow scene, i use baking soda to simulate snow :)
hope this how-to helps :)
enjoy!

crismag, tell us then kill us, please do :D
You used a software to edit? Cos I dont even see any evidence of the car being held.
Still, the efforts you put in into those dioramas is very good!

crismag
05-08-2003, 06:33 PM
hehehe! since most of you are really intrigued by my flying evo.... the secret is i used a very thin but hard strip of clear plexi glass to support the evo underneath :) it is so thin and clear that it is barely visible at certain angles.

Seen these before on Huudo's Automover site. But it is always a joy to see such fantastic work again.
Thanks for the build notes too.
What did you use for the water under the bridge?
Do they smell good with the spices?
