My latest project, Model Factoy Hiros Matral MS80. Looks like a really nice kit, I will build it mostly OOB only adding some extra wires. I haven't decided wether to do the Spanish or Monte Carlo version yet, I'm leaning to the Monte Carlo.

All parts have been cleaned and test fitted. I couldn't find any really big problems, just a bit of sanding and drilling and everything went toghter.

Enigine and gearbox test fitted.

The engine has been painted. The block was given a black wash and then a light polish to bring out some metal shine. After that the ends of the heads whear given a coat of dark steel grey. I really like how it came out, it might not be exact as the engine looks in real life but I like it and that's whats important.

The engine looks great and as long as you like it, that's really good! (I remember being fried on here for painting a XJ220 in the wrong colours:frown::frown::frown:)

WOW, the casting on that engine is amazing, is it 1:20 scale? Great work so far, this is gonna be one of those builds to watch!!

Thanks for the comments!

The engine is nearing completion. Right now it's just "box stock", haven't added anything except for the supplied details. I'm going to add some more wires and the rest of the throttle linkage. The fuel lines were a real challenge to add, it's extremely tight between the intakes where the fuel pump is located.

I think the engine is done now. I have added some wires for the ignition and some details on the throttles. The springs looks a bit big in the pics, but they are fine IRL.

I have also started working the gearbox and rear suspension. There will be more details to come.

Thought it was time for an update. Not much has happend, I have been moving so I haven't been able to work for some time.

The rear end is almost completed, I just need to buy some new oil hose, the MFH hose is way too big. Then it's just a few wires missing.

I also did some work on the dash board. I turned some new switches and repalaced the moulded ones.

Finally made some progress on this. I have been missing some parts for my air brush. They arrived during the week so now I have been able to do some painting. I used Zero paints French blue for the monocoque, might not be perfect in shade but I'm happy with it. I also got all the black parts painted and the wheels are painted in model master exhaust. Next up is some clear followed by decals.

I also won a third place with the engine at a recent show. They had a theme class for engines.

All the decals are on. I ended up painting the white stripes as the decals didn't want to agree with me. All the parts are clear coated for the last time now.

Thanks

This thing is starting to look more and more like a car. But it's still some way to go. I have started to add some wires to the dashboard I still need to clean it up a bit and add some more wires.

It's on wheels! The front suspension is done. Next up is the radiator and some details. I hope to have it done before the end of the year.

That MS80 is look'n good! Are my eyes playing tricks or is the rear wing attached directly to the suspension uprights? If so, those Matra guys were crazy dangerous!

Thanks for the comments!

I managed to get some work done this weekend, but it wasn't easy. Had a lot of problems getting the radiator on, the mounting frames had been bent after I did the mock up. I also mounted the duct the wrong way around so the radiator ended up in the wrong position and the nose cone didn't fit. While I was fixing it I knocked off the rear wing and parts of the rear suspension.

But I did get all the parts back.

http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n191/JonMW/Matra%20MS80/PICT3780.jpg

I also added the seat belts.

http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n191/JonMW/Matra%20MS80/PICT3775.jpg

And the wrenches for removing the steering wheel on the side of the cockpit.
