Painting rims

Ok i need to paint my plain white rims some new colors i really like those bronze tone mugen rims. but i don't know what color(s) i need and if i need a flat or gloss primer under it to get a better result in painting. so i have added this picture of the color i am looking to get so if you guys could help me out in what tamiya paint color i need and primer i would be thankful :)

That is asking for trouble if you don't exactly know what you're doing. Better to paintbrush with enamels (like Humbrol gold or Tamiya gold enamel)

There's no such thing as gloss primer :confused: At least I've never heard of it. So just use normal primer and airbush / spray the rims or paintbrush them if you choose to. Better to spray with a can or an airbrush though ;)

I said gloss primer!?!?!?! argh paint fumes got to me again.
what i meant by that was should i use a flat primer or a gloss paint under it. i know with alclad chrome you need gloss black under it to get a real nice shine so i was thinking if i needed a gloss under it to get high shine with out a clear coat. but now i know primer and tamiya gold.

I think that is tamiya gold spray can because I painted some rims tamiya gold and they look like that.

Most of the time wheels have intricate details that are easily covered by paint if you aren't careful. If I don't have to do a drastic color change like put a light color on a wheel that is molded in black, in which case I would prime it with Tamiya white primer, if not I spray straight on to the plastic even if using automotive lacquer. Light coats will no damage the plastic and the details will be crisp. Acrylics work great to because of the amount they shrink when dry.
I always keep a good assortment of metalizer paints on hand in case I need to mix a color like you're looking for, of course you can do the same with acrylics.
Tamiya also has a bronze and titanium in the bottle acrylics you might like. :)

The paint in the picture of the Acura is Gunze. It is gold.

Now i have a real purpose to go the the hobby shop this week. has any one tried testors gold? yeah yeah i know but i'm just wondering.

model master make a gold paint(1744) it has a much finer pigment than acrilic paint,you shold apply with a airbrush. another is to check out your local craft shop they sell gold ,silver ,bronze ect in spray packs that are really nice.if your rims are already chromed mix some tamiya clear orange+clear yellow=gold

u only need a Sharpie Marker but thats only come in blue,red or black!

No u dont, u dont know whut ur doing, Sharpies dont come out right some parts are not colored black and some parts are.

I agree with that.

Tamiya TS-21 Gold spray will give you the look your looking for. I did this one a few years back
