starter maybe

I started my car today. It started roughly as it does every great once in a while, I didnt think it started and turned the key again. I turned the key the second time pretty quickly after the first. Now when I start the car. after it is fully started I hear a scraping noise. at first I was thinking starter linkage. but is sounds like its right inside the dash, not the stearing wheel or column, but dash. was wondering if anyone else has ever had this problem. sounds like metal on metal. or metal on really hard plastic.. another problem to add to the list.
