Fuel Gauge

I just purchased a 2006 Buick Lucerne with 30,000 miles on it, with the Northstar V8. Great running car! Rides nice! Only problem I am having is the fuel gauge. When I am parked on a slope, the gauge can read 1/8 of a tank greater or less than the actually amount of fuel in the tank. Once I start driving, the gauge slowly but surely corrects itself and adjusts to the proper fuel level in the tank. Is there some kind of bulletin out for this issue because I hear a lot of people having the same issues with the gauge. I automatically suspect a bad sending unit in the tank. Anyone had any problems similar to this? Any easy way to fix it? Thanks in advance!

As far as I know, that is the way they are on all Lucernes. Mine reacts the same way. I believe it is due to the baffles in the tank which keep the fuel from sloshing around. If that is all the trouble you have with your Lucerne, be happy.

Thats the way all fuel level sending units work. When you are parked on a slope, all your fuel goes to either the front or back of the tank, depending on how your parked. Your fuel level sending unit does not move with the fuel however, causing a false reading when parked on a slope. As you drive on a straight rode, the fuel level sending unit adjusts because the fuel level evens out in the fuel tank. Like mentioned above, its completely normal for just about any vehicle, not just the Lucerne

Thanks guys. I just wanted to make sure. I know from having GM vehicles in the past that the baffles tend to break and the gas gauge would dance all over the place. But yeah, it's no big deal. The car is amazing.
