2000 Sportage Fuel Gauge Not Working...HELP!!

I have a 2000 Sportage, and the fuel gauge does not work....99% of the time, it shows empty....yesterday when i put gas in it, it went up very very slowly to half tank, but next time i started it(the next morning) it dropped back to empty and hasnt moved since....I need to figure out whats wrong and get it fixed. I have checked fuses, checked wires under rear seat by gas tank, everything looks good. Please can anyone help!!

have you taken out your fuel pump hanger assembly? the floater may be jammed or that part of the motor may have quit working. you may need a new hanger assembly or if possible a new floater.
