97 sunfire sparkplugs

I have a 97 sunfire with a 99 2.4l twin cam engine. I have been trying to figure out the right way to get to the spark plugs.

I removed the section of air intake that sets over the Throttle body. I can now see the spark plugs( well the wires) but looks like i have to remove what looks like a long cylindrical object before i can free them. Then i should be good to go. My concern is the 2 metal pipes that gets screwed into the object.

How would i go by removing the object (the right way)?

First time changing a pontiacs plugs
