The truck ran flawless until the transmission line fell out of the radiator. I was on my way to work when I noticed that my truck was just revving while in drive. I pulled over to the side to discover a really big puddle of tranny fluid under my truck. I connected the tranny line back into the radiator and added 5qts of dex/merc III in the transmission. After this whole issue happened, I noticed that under normal acceleration from a complete stop, the truck kind of "spudders" into 2nd gear. It also seems to slip from 1st to 2nd while accelerating up a hill or accelerating while turning. 3rd and 4th gears are questionable. After the truck is warm, the slip seems to smooth out, but is still present. The transmission seems fine in the highway.

I have no check engine lights on (although p0300 does show up every so often, but goes away that same day), i've changed the tranny fluid and filter, but to no avail. No metal pieces in the tranny pan, just the normal grime on the magnet.

I'm not too sure of the maitnence history on the transmission, but I do know that it was replaced about a year and a half ago.

Sounds likes it's rebuild time. You most likely burnt up some stuff when it ran with out fluid.

The tranny was rebuilt not even a year ago...

It's really baffling how once I drive it a good amount of time,
the transmission shifts immaculate.

I took it a tranny shop and they believe it's a fuel issue and not
a tranny issue.

My gas gauge stopped working a little while ago.. Could a failing fuel
pump be mistaken for a tranny slip?

Did they put it on a transmission capable scanner and test out transmission?
What makes them think it is a fuel problem?
Run a fuel pressure test and post back pressure readings.
