Which would you choose in an all out battle? Road/Track/Highway
TVR Speed Six (360HP)
or
Dodge Viper R/T 10 (450HP)
?

as a cruiser i would choose the TVR. but for an all out battle. it would have to be the snake. the TVR is not known for handling. the viper is known for monster torque, and monster grip.

Not being familiar with Speed Six - I'll go with the Viper. Not to mention that the Viper is a handfull in any comparison.

see what happens when you throw in a car that no one knows about?
i'm all about the tvr...
the TVR is not known for handling. the viper is known for monster torque, and monster grip.
the tvr isn't known for handling?
and the viper is?
monster grip?
have you ever seen a viper launch?
it's not all that grippy...
i'll go for the well balanced machine...

I ddi some looking around and I found the numbers on the Speed Six from http://www.hawthornstvr.com/html/cerbera.htm It looks like the optional engines on the Cerbera put out significantly more power above these already impressive numbers. (of course the model year of the car will make a difference as well)
I am suprised that the comparison was done to the R/T instead of the coup since then it would be with fixed roof vehicles.
0-60 mph: 4.4 sec
0-100 mph: 10.2 sec
Max Power: 350bhp @6800 rpm
Max Torque: 330 ft lbs @5000 rpm
Max Speed: > 170 mph
Color me impressed. :)

To cliam that any TVR dosnt hanlde implies a complete lack of knowledge about the company and the British low production car industry in general.
Every TVR ever made has been known for having great handling, and the Speed 6 is no excpetion. When mixed with on of the most powerful inline 6 cylinder engines ever made, and the cars extremly light weight it would leave the Viper writhering in the dust.
The Speed 6 is a road legal race car, and its only barly road legal, just enough so you can drive it to the track and save on needing a trailer.
The Viper is a road car, and very big heavy one.

i saw a top gear video where tiff needle was testing the speed 6. he said that the car was more of a straightline speed demon. when he was testing out its handling, he said that the steering is very sharp, you point the car in any direction, the front just goes and the rear hopefully follows later. and thats when he said that, that car wasn't known for handling, its more of a straight line speed demon.

By European standards for a low production sports car its more of a straightline demon, but thats when compared with the likes of Lotus and Ferrari.
But its a 1,000lb, or half a ton, or the weight of a Lotus Elise lighter than the Viper, and its built by a company which places and emphasis on handling.

look at all the other cars that Tiff gets to drive...
compared to most ridiculously well handling euro cars, the tvr could be more of a straight line car, but you can't simply say that it doesn't handle b/c he said it's more of a straight liner...
he said the steering, per your quote, turns in sharply... i like that in my car.
the rear eventually follows the front?
at least it's not understeering...
and i'm sure it doesn't need 13" wide wheels to accomodate all its power...
the viper needs those just to keep traction... and it doesn't always work...

The Viper RT/10 handles like a pig!! A Viper GTS is another story but an RT/10, it's got wide ass tires and it handles like a Lincoln on bicycle tires.

is that from experience or from your personal opinion?
it's got wide ass tires
so do most race cars. do they handle like pigs?
highly unlikely...
have you driven one, ridden in one?

:finger: I saw Motor Trend Television comparison between Cobra R, Z06 and the RT/10...the RT/10 sucked, it understeered and simultaneously over steered, it sucked! I never saw an $80,000 pile of crap "sports car" handle so bad on a roadcourse. That RT/10 is only good for morons like Charlie Sheen, that seek attention, and cruise for hoes. Some sports car.

so you haven't driven one?
they said it did both at the same time?
 < this is me finding that hard to believe..
and if i remember correctly, the course they used was very small, very twisty, and had short straights...
they used a silver gts coupe, yes?

and if i remember correctly, the course they used was very small, very twisty, and had short straights
they also said that the viper was not at home on the track, that it was a pretty small track for that car.
you can't just pick and choose what you heard...
there's more to it than the car not handling well
:finger: < and that, to me is offensive, for my asking a question.
is unappreciated...

you haven't driven one, so you're basing your opinion/information on one show that you saw... which is the same show i saw, and yet i remember that the driver noted that the track didn't do anything to show the viper's better traits... hmm...
selective vision?

i very rarely use the icons there, b/c they would offend me, b/c they denote the nature or attitude you post with.
therefore...
i'm offended by it.
anything else?

No, that was the impression I got from the testdrive report. Just like you getting offended by a little green guy, I find the little green guy funny. People see things in different ways.
I saw what I saw, a pathetic RT/10 going around the turns like a staggering hippo while the Corvette and a Mustang looked like they where riding on rails, they didn't have problems with the "track being too small". :flipa: (I hope you get offended)

you're a child.
the point is that they (motor trend) noted that the track was short, windy, etc. and did not help the viper's handling.
they did not say, nor imply, that it handled like a pig.
that, my friend, is your derived opinion.
go drive one and tell me if it's a pig to you.

as we all know, different sport cars are designed for different types of race tracks. for example. on a tight twisty small track, a evo would leave almost anything else for dead. a medium sized track, the skyline would leave almost anything else for dead. on a long big track, a nsx would leave almost anything for dead. each different track layout shows the strenght and weakness for each car. some cars were designed to race on that specific type of track. that track was obviously too small for the viper to be in. and about what Tiff said about the TVR. heh i didn't know that he was comparing it those cars. but now that you said that it was compared to the likes of the super exotics, i take it back, TVR all the way baby.
