shift indicater

2005 gmc sierra z-71 my gear shift indicater needle that points to prnd321 sometimes it will not show that it is in park it stays on r .. i then have to try to move the shifter over again before it will show its in park.. is there a adjustment that i can do my self for it??/ thanks
