ok got a 1999 dodge van ran out of gas, put some in, no start . OK I know in some cars it burns out thefuel pump/sending unit. but will that cause the fuel light to come on ? also fuel gauge shows empty after 50.00 worth put in. had also heard that after runing out if atempted to start without fuel it fry's the injectores?? is that true? HELP it cost to dam much to just throw parts at it and hella to much for my budget at the shops. ..Thanks for your time

Ok id check for fuel at the fuel rail you can turn the key on and then off a few time and should have pressure at the relief on the rail what size motor is it v6?? V8 ??

I never heard of frying injectors if there's no fuel. Hard to credit - its nothing more than an electro-magnet that opens and closes a valve at the right time.

Have you checked your fuses?

Do you have pressure in the fuel rail?

Did you take a spark plug out after cranking the engine for a bit to see if its wet or smells with fuel?

It's possible since the fuel is the lubricant. Without it, the injector could operate dry and damage an internal seal. Is likely to happen...no, can it happen...yes. Same with the fuel pump.
