hi im a total newbie....to the board and to cars....other than driving it, i don't know much.
i was wondering if anyone knew if i should even bother investing in a helm's service manual, will it help someone like me do basic service on my car on my own? or is it geared towards someone with a general understanding of car repair and maintenance?
any help you could give would be appreciated. i would like to start learning more about the ins and outs of my honda.
by the way it's a 91 sedan, is that what 4th Gen means?
thanks

You should definetely buy a Helms manual. Seriously, read through that a couple times and you'll be able to fix anything on your car, it'll pay for itself many times over in the money you save by not having to go to a shop to get stuff fixed.

Welcome to the board!
I agree with Marc-OS, get the Helms if you want to know everything about your car. However check out a Haynes manual for routine mantainance/general information. Good luck!:)

thanks for your input....now does anyone know if the only place to get a helms shop manual for a 91 4dr civic is on helminc.com?
or is there maybe a place i can go to pick up a used (cheaper, not 62 bucks) copy?
thanks again!

you can download the helm's for free at: http://www.binghamtonlife.com/manual/manual.htm
it is for the crx but, you can still use it. crx + hatch + sedan = all the same engine & tranny

if you are swapping the engine then you would need to buy the book for the car in which the engine is needed.
for me since im swapping to a b16 i needed to buy two books just so i can wire up an engine harness for the motor.
