You are not retarded, but Google is sometimes your friend

Answer provided by Yahoo answers...

Q:What are turbochargers made of?

A: Depends on manufacturer/type.

Hot side housings: Cast iron
Cold side: Cast aluminum
Center Housing: Usually cast iron
Impeller: Usually stainless or high carbon steel
Bearings: Can be as simple as an oil bath bushing or as exotic as ceramic ball bearing.

In the case of the R390 the turbos were made by Japanese company IHI who also made the turbos for the Ferrari F 40 if Iīm not mistaken.

This is the homepage of their American distributor: http://www.ihi-turbo.com/

Maybe you could contact them for an exact specification of what turbos were in the R390.

Since the R390 was a GT car to be used in Le Mans style endurance events it needed to be homologated. So there is a street version that should not differ too much from the race car itself. And therefore itīll also be some sort of workshop manual or mechanical specification avaliable from Nissan.

Here is a picture gallery of the homologation car....

Hope this helps you out!

Cheers!

Emil
