there is a difference but its hard to explain and i cant remember what it is....

basically they are the same....shocks tend to be used in bigger cars, and trucks, struts tend to be used in imports. Shocks are a seperate assembly. Struts have the spring located over top of the strut. Thats where the name "Coil-Over" came from.
