lost the high setting on the front blower motor

1995 lumina apv,,lost the high setting on the front blower motor,,other settings work low,mid,midhigh,but no high.:crying:..thinking blower motor resistor???hoping its not the switch itself its $80 versus 25 for the resistor...anyone encounter this????thanks for your help

The high speed blower relay is burned out..or more likely the red wire leading to it is burned along with the relay pin. Look at the relay mounted on the firewall next to the blower motor, disconnect the wiring harness and look, you will see what I mean.

THe amps on the high speed setting .. around 25 amps .. is quite high and the motor will even start smelling burnt wiring after some time. I always consider the highest setting for short duration bursts only. Long time use , as reported by many incidents on this and parent forums , result in melted relay wiring, socket contacts and relay contacts...sometimes a fried motor.

I just want to add a note."If you have to replace the plug and wires to this relay, be sure to solder your connections.Do not rely on solder-less connectors.I know this from experience on my APV".
