EGR valve ticking

So I undid the crappy EGR delete on my 97GTP that ZZP boasts but now my EGR valve is ticking pretty loud. What does this mean?

I took off the EGR valve and I hear the pintle moving when I invert it up and down. Some people say the EGR should tick slightly but when I accelerate you can hear it from like someone is clanking metal hammers together.

Are you sure its not an exhaust leak? Did you replace the gasket?

Would a bad egr valve gasket cause that bad of a problem? I did notice that the egr copper line to exhaust manifold was slightly bent probably during initial install and uninstall. Could that be it? I just bought a new EGR valve. I'll pop it on and see if that fixes it.

Why didn't you like the EGR delete from ZZP?

And if there is a bend or kink in the metal hose that goes from the EGR to the Lower intake, it may have a hole which could cause all sorts of issues including a large vacuum leak. You may want to have a closer look at it.

The EGR delete kills you gas mileage and throws a code to boot. Sure it will keep your SC clean but I think its more trouble then its worth.

Yeah, you need to have all the EGR codes deleted in your PCM to run with an EGR. I think I read on ZZP website that their egr delete wont trip a DTC, but thats total bs.

Did the new EGR valve fix your problem?

Yeah I took out the EGR, replaced the gasket (but kept the original EGR and saved $163), then I reseated the EGR tube into the exhaust manifold. Everything is fine now...well sort of ...see my new post.

I drove the car around for about 50 miles after resetting the CEL and a code came back. The problem is that its the most annoying code for a grand prix, P0171 Bank 1 System too lean. Why would working with the EGR do this?

Anyone?

Didn't you have this DTC over a year ago? See link. Maybe it has come back to haunt you and not really related to the EGR issue. Did you ever check the short and long term fuel trims?
