Hey everyone, Im new to riding. I am looking for an insurance company that wont kill me with high rates. Im interested in what company people are with and how much they pay. Any particulars would also be useful, thanks.

I used to pay more for insurance then some people make a year at minimum wage.

Just don't get a sportbike untill you are 27.

R1 really is pretty much right. State Farm is definately the way to go, but you have to have your car insurance with them, too. Insurance is just dang expensive until you've got years of riding under your belt, and age working WITH you.

dont worry about it, call progressive

I am only 19, have 5 speeding tickets (3 - 20 or more over and 2 19 or less over) a DUI and a driving with license revoked of the 2nd and my quote for a 03 CBR 600F4i was only 1265 a year liability.

Full coverage with $200 deductable on 2002 R6 around $250 every six months!:D
I'm 18 and have a careless ticket.(RIP my first fiero). Just a note, my company doesn't rate you on secondary vehicles. ie the bike.

I checked with pregressive and they quoted me over 1200. I have only one speeding ticket. Has anyone ever dealt with www.bike-line.com They are the cheapest place that I can find, but I wanted to talk to someone who has dealt with them before.

Try Dairyland Insurance. I've heard MANY good things about them through my MSF instructors. They are all Hardley buffs, but they did know their shit.

I had a 1991 GS500, no riding experience, 4 years clear driving experience, and I paid $27/mo Oh, and I took the MSF for a discount, and I have the good student discount, too. I was 19 at the time of insurance.

I pay 180/year for my 93 FZR 600 liability only. Simply not worth putting full coverage on it to me, specially since it's not mint.

I have recently heard(from a few different sources) that insurance on a motorcycle isnot required in the state of washington, is this true?

I can't say for certain, but my guess is going to be that if you have to insure a car, you're going to have to insure a bike.

Does anyone know what insurance would cost on a 350 Yamaha enduro for a 16 year old? Thanks for the help.

Whatever you do, DO NOT get progressive. Their insurance on bikes is usually about... oh 300% more than many other companies.

You'll have to call insurance companies (or have someone thats 18+ call) because there are so many factors to consider with insurance prices.

Here in Florida it is NOT required to have insurance on your motorcycle if it is worth 10,000 or less. Anything above HAS to have insurance...*shrugs* but driving around without insurance on your bike isn't too smart I think.

well, found out that in WA if you have a alright driving record then no you dont have to insure your bike but if you have a SR22 like I do then you have to insure it.

no insurance is good for a 16 yr old, especially on a street bike, my girl got a quote for a 600rr with msf course, and one month of owning/riding a bike and full coverage was 6k a year. if you make it pone year without wrecking it, plus the deductible you basically and buy a 2nd bike if you werent paying insurance that year. although then you have no liability. and when I had mine at age 19 with a sr22 and all it was only 198 a month liability, lowest legal limits on everything, not cheap but better than 6k a year.

I have my 1982 Nighthawk insured thru State Farm,$23.00 per month, full coverage. But I have two cars insured thru then too.I chose full coverage because the bike is mint condition.25 year old bike with 6500 actual miles!! I don't know how old you are,or what kind of bike you want to insure,Your rates depend on your age and type of machine you want to insure.I think all insurance companys use thoes two factors, age and type of bike to set there rates. If you live in michigan do not try Gicoe insurance. They don't insure bokes in michigan(Stupid lizzard's).Anyway good luck!!
