My friend has a '90 MX-6 with a 4 cylinder. anyways it shuts down at about 115mph. how can we raise this or remove it? is it computer controled or?

Your friend is either going to have to buy a new ECU that is remapped and has a higher/no speed limiter, or a stand-alone engine management system, like a T.E.C. series or a Haltec unit that allows independent tuning of the engine.

None that I know of off hand, but there's a chance that the ECU in your friend's MX might be able to be remapped itself. It's doubtful, since the chip in my 323 isn't remappable, but hey, it's an option you might want to look into.

i dunno about that exact model, but on my ZE all I had to do was cut a wire @ the ECU. Look into how the speedo is wired and see if you can do the same
