Malibu '07 knocking noise when turning..

I love this car - great on gas, and roomy, comfy. 60k on it. I just had new Monroe Struts and Monroe Shocks put on yesterday. I also had the brake fluid flushed out and new fluid put in, and I also had new front brake pads and the rotors shaved it little. And of course the every 3K miles oil change done. Oh, and I had a wheel alignment done - abviously. When the mechanic was removing the old struts, he said the driver's side Sway Bar fell apart so I had to get a new one.

Before the work, I noticed a knocking noise and it only happens when I am turning the wheel while driving (or) while turning the wheel when it's parked. I was hoping that the work would take care of the noise but it didn't. I did some searching on the Net and came up with one thing that needs adjusted - the steering rack - and it takes 2 hours. So Im here to see if anyone has had this same noise/problem and what was done to fix it. Also, is this something that can get worse if I ignore it? Any guidance is surely appreciated.

You may want to see if the coil spring is broken. Mine was. Here's how to do it. 1 person turns the steering wheel and another person looks at the coil spring, but be sure to keep your head out of the way.

You need to lubricate the Inner and Outer Steering Shaft... Read the first one on the list here TSB #060232007 (http://www.carcomplaints.com/Chevrolet/Malibu/2005/tsbs.shtml)

Also a lot more info to read HERE, follow posts #2 and #12 (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=5774672#post5774672)... disregard the advice to use PB Blaster as it will wash all lubrication off the shaft, making it more dificult to lubricate!
