Do anybody out there know if a backyard mechanic like myself can rebuild turbos? If there is any info on the subject I would appriciate it. Thanks

It is doable by a DIYer.
One key point to remember during reassembly is to line up the turbine and compressor wheels in the same orientation as they were before the compressor wheel is separated from the shaft.

A huge issue with backyarders trying it is BALANCING.

Honestly, send the turbos to a REPUTABLE turbo shop. Its worth the money of not having to do a turbo job twice. Just avoid LMI. They have screwed over A LOT of people on 3si.
