I can't help myself posting this thread and I really wish to thank Peloton25 for his very inspiring Mclaren F1 posts as well as the others. I've learned a great deal listening to Peloton25. The Mclaren F1 is the greatest roadcar ever!

Hello? :)

Wasn't sure what I would find in here but am flattered a bit to be singled out in such a way. Perhaps it is just that I have the biggest mouth around here? :grinyes:

Actually I'm here because I love the F1 too. While I do try to contribute everything I can to make this forum great, and I may often be the most vocal, this place would certainly not be as enjoyable if it was just me posting. I feel that I get just as much as I give, and it's the community of people who share that same passion for the F1 that makes it so wonderful. That's why I encourage everyone else to join in the discussions when they have a comment to make or a question to ask. In the end we usually all learn something, including me.

Just yesterday someone on another forum asked if the same mirror adjustment switch was used in all the F1s since there were three different mirrors used throughout the production cycle. This wasn't something I'd ever contemplated myself, but that doesn't make it a dumb question as someone else there seemed to suggest.

I dug around and found that not only do all three variations use the same switch, but the Clinic Model had the same one as well. Now I'm willing to bet that one didn't work properly with the original concept mirrors, but there it was on the right console in the same position as all the other F1s. Hopefully someone else was wondering now that I've shared the story here too. :)

Thanks again for your kind words and a big thanks to everyone who helps to keep the torch burning here for the McLaren F1.

Speaking of the mirrors, I was under the impression that the side views were not even adjustable. I recall Mr. Selldorf expressing that he coulnt even adjust them on his LM. Is that just with regard to all the LM's only perhaps?

I don't recall when he made the comment about the mirrors, but McLaren certainly provided a power adjustment for them in the LM, as seen here.

Okay, I stand corrected and now realize Mr. Selldorf said the mirror would not go past a certain point and Mclaren said that's just the way it is.
