97 Grand Prix AC compressor dead

Just go the bad news right when it is above 90 degrees. My AC compressor is dead according to the mechanic I took it too. He said it takes about 2 hours to put back, new compressor and recharge all for $770. I found a used compressor, does anyone know if the 2000 and 2001 compressors are compatible with the 97's and about how long it takes to put the compressor back in and have it recharged?

if you have a V5 compressor, yes

if you have the H6 compressor, they didn't make it on 2000 ~only v5 and v7 styles

'97 and up Grand Prixs with the VIN "K" and "1" 3800 engines only use the Delphi/Harrison V5 variable displacement compressor. Same compressor for 1997 through 2003.
