i have a 1997 suburban k1500 , 5.7 votec motor.
just replaced fuel pump and fuel filter.went to try and start but engine wont fire.plugs are dry and indicates no fuel being released by injectors.
fuel pressure reading at relief valve on rail is 42 psi and seems low.......
checked fuel lines on gas tank and they are not kinked.
don't know why pressure is only 42 psi.
please help

Welcome to AF.
Did you replace all this for the same problem or did this start after the replacements?
Yes 42 psi is too low. Should be around 55 psi to have enough pressure to open the injector poppets.
Fuel pumps for the later vehicles are very VIN specific. A VIN specific Delphi-AC Delco is the best way to go.
Another area to check is the ground wire and connection for the fuel pump. Connectors are known to get hot and sometimes melt. Ground wire connections (on the frame rail or cross rail) can become corroded and/or loose and need to be checked.
