I need to replace the electric motor or window regulator on my 2000 Buick Lesabre. The window quite working in the down position. I have removed the door panel, disconnected wiring and etc. I know the window should be in a raised position to disconnect regulator and motor, as the screws are behind the door bracing when the window is down. I have tried to lift the window manually, however can not get it to budge. any suggestions???

thanks

sometime the motor brushes wear out. You might get the motor to work by:
try tapping the window motor with something hard (screw driver handle) while holding the window switch in the up position (key on). a helper pushing up on the window might help a weak motor. Watch your fingers!!!

The dorman set comes with the motor.

So you just un-screw the window and replace with new part.

You may need someone to hold the window up until you
can re-attach it.

Window motors are very common at going out on these cars. If the motor did go out on you they are about 50$ in parts to fix. Very easy to do. If its down, cut the cable and lift it up. For a temporary fix while you wait for a motor, clip some vice grips on the frame to hold it up.

I have the same issue with my drivers side...the motor works but binds when it hits the top position and left there. The second I loosen the motor casing which unbinds everything it works fine.
I backed off the motor screws a bit and told the wife when winding up the window to back it off a touch after it hits top position and so far so good...saving up for a new regulator.
