a little progress, just cleaned up the body, removed the side repeaters and the molded door handles. also removed the rear badges. first coat of primer applied.

heres what i did with mine i have a restorable one in the tubes too.
the one thing i have to say is get a better engine the revell golf would be the next best thing or rob the diecast for the 3.6 like i did

I have one of these too, was going to graft Revell Corrado front and rear bumpers on it but comparing the kit body to a Scirocco brochure and seeing how far off it is I lost enthusiasm for the project. Am hoping your build will get me on track again to get this baby built as I originally intended. Right now I just find the kit too depressing...:runaround:

sbvwfanatic- great wheels!!! I've been trying to find the right combo and those look hot! Hope you and gtidude can work together within the same thread as between the two of you it will be really kewl to see how you each handle building this kit... and inspire me to get rolling with mine.

the wheels looks a little too big for me now. will probably change them to BBS RS rims.

The wheels look cool but i also agree they seem to be a little too big. Keep us posted.

The ONLY wheels that belong on Wet Dubs are BBS! ok, well, maybe some other kinds look decent, but BBS are best!

Hey Jimmy, im a bit disappointed that the dials are to big, was so looking forward to this build. im going to use the dials on another project now. thanks again for the goodies

decided to change the color of the interior after the teledials did'nt work out.
tried to do a bit of a textured leather and alcantara look. didn't come out completely the way i wanted to but im not in the mood for changing it again, i have already lost interest in this build. the parts is just horrible when it comes to fitting. maybe its just my kit.

not complete yet but heres a little teaser pic of the interior

It doesn't look that bad Fagri. The seats look a bit wide for the interior tub. I had the same problem with the Fairlady. To solve it, I carved an indention in the side of the seat that is against the tranny tunnel. This allows the seats to be mounted further in, and gives you some more room :2cents::smokin:

the 'rocco looks awesome with the BBS RS. They are just the best oldschool wheels. Love the brown color, int. and ext. The Porsche seats just look a little too angled? You know, the seatbacks are reclined too far? Keep it up!

I'll second that. Fagri, I think it looks really good. I'm having the same problem w/seats. The seats that come w/the kit are to small but most of the buckets I want to use, are to large...
And no, it's not just your kit. The body casting is great but the rest of the kits fitment is very poor. And also why, I haven't touched my build this weekend.

Just thought I'd share this w/those of you building the Scirocco kit, I just purchased these seats from Scaledreams.com and was initially disappointed at how narrow they are but now realize they will fit perfectly in the Scirocco. I'll take some photos, tonight after work of them in the Scirocco's interior tub. (Had a knarley thunder storm last night so didn't have a chance.)

My 1st purchase from scale dreams and I'll def. purchase from them again.. I got my order in 2 days. I wish the detail on the seats was a little crisper but that's what you get w/resin cast. I need to finds some Recaro decals for them now though.

O.k. Not as narrow as I thought but it will take very little trimming to make them fit.

Either of those seats will look good. I do agree how bad this kit was engineered, i just test fitted some stuff and have to say it will require a lot of work to make it look decent. Good luck, how do you plan on tackling the sd seats as they look too wide to fit?

Tried doing some body work on mine tonight but the ligthing sucks in my house. (Damn soft-light bulbs.) I'll get some time in tomorrow.

started on the engine, trashed the 8v its a 16v now, and because its an old school car i decided to dump the injection and go with a set of weber sidedrafts.
still lots of work to be done still so dont flame me yet for the crap work. also lots of scratch build stuff here. the oil cap is machined alloy.

Happy new year buddy. I have not touched my build much at all. I 're-worked my valve cover to look kinda like an oettinger unit but kinda fizzled out on my build and not touched it in months. (Still not sure how to tackle the chassis.)
I'd love to see your build moving again, you are so close. I may try to sneak out to the garage to make a little progress on it today.
